What Prompted Jesus To Dowhat He Did
Contributed by Doug Warren on Dec 13, 2002 (message contributor)
Summary: Several factors promoted Jesus to leave the Glory of Heaven, take on Human form, suffer and die... What were they?
Intro:It "boggles our mind" to think that Jesus existed
in Glory before the foundation of the world, was co-creator with the Father and Holy Spirit, lived a limitless existence with all glory and privilige at
His disposal, yet CHOSE to leave all that, come to
Earth and Limit himself to the confines of a body
the size of a newborn baby, suffer all human limitations, be misunderstood, misrepresented,
physically tortured, and put on a cross to die a
shameful death for something He did NOT DO.
**DID YOU EVER JUST STOP AND ASK HIM "Lord,
What prompted you do do that?"
His answer is found in the factors that prompted
His actions.
JESUS DID WHAT HE DID
I. BECAUSE OF THE PLIGHT OF MAN (SIN)
II.BECAUSE OF THE PLAN OF GOD (SALVATION)
III. BECAUSE OF THE PROVISION ONLY HE COULD PROVIDE
(SINLESS SACRIFICE)
IV. BECAUSE OF THE POWERFUL LOVE HE HAS FOR US
It is hard to imagine that the God of Glory loved
me enough to do all that for me...but that’s the truth.
He loves you with the same degree of love..
*regardless of what you’ve done
*regardless of where you came from
*regardless of who you are
*regardless of how unloveable you think you are.
"JESUS LOVES ME, THIS I KNOW...FOR THE BIBLE TELLS
ME SO."
THE NUMBER ONE PSYCHOLOGICAL NEED OF MAN IS TO LOVE
AND BE LOVED.
John 3:16 "God SO LOVED.."LOVED TO SUCH A DEGREE"
THAT HE GAVE HIS ONLY SON...
QUESTION:
LORD, WHAT PROMPTED YOU DO DO WHAT YOU DID?
ANSWER:
"YOUR PLIGHT OF SIN, MY PLAN OF SALVATION,
MY UNIQUE PROVISION, AND MY POWERFUL LOVE FOR YOU."
MAY GOD BE PRAISED!!! THAT’S CHRISTMAS!!
