What Makes It Christmas

Summary: If there was not a light hung, a decorated tree oe a single gift given would it still be Christmas? Does Christmas have to be limited to a single day in the year? Why do we often hear the expression I am not in the Christmas mood?
• If not one single light is hung, or a tree decorated, or a gift given would it be Christmas?
• Does it hath to be Christmas only one day a year?
• Why do we often hear the expression I am not I the Christmas spirit or it just does not feel like Christmas?
What makes it Christmas?
There would be no Christmas without…
1. The Person of Christmas
Mention: Matt. 1:21 A thou shalt call His name Jesus
There is no real Christmas without Jesus!
Mention: Genesis 3:15, Isaiah 7:14, and Micah 5:2 These verses all looked forward to what we know a celebrate today as Christmas.
“Without the Christ it just mas (another day)”
Perhaps those that opposes the Christ is right by writing “Xmas or simply saying Happy Holidays”
Notice: Matt. 1:23 His name shall be called Emmanuel, which being interpreted is God with us.
Christmas is not just God given us His Son, but God given us Himself!

2. The People of Christmas
Matt. 1:3 Thamar, Vs.5 Rachab and Ruth, Vs.6 The wife of Urias “Bathsheba”
There would be no need for Christmas if there was no sinners!
Mention: Matt. 1:21 He came to save His people from their sins
When a sinner gets a hold of this they…
a. They seek their King Matt. 2:1-2
b. They Worship Him Vs.2, 11
Notice the Phrase: “When they were come into the house” Whose house? The house of the Lord!
c. They gave unto Him Vs.11
Give Him…Reverence, Praise, and your Heart
d. They are obedient unto Him Vs.12 “Being warned of God”
e. They spread the good news Luke 2:17 The shepherds made it known abroad
Christmas is about God giving to sinners!
What makes it Christmas is…
3. The Present of Christmas
See: Luke 2:7, 10-11 Salvation was wrapped in swaddling clothes
Joseph and Mary were poor by the standards of man in their day, but yet held the greatest gift ever given.

Christmas is not Christmas without receiving Jesus the Christmas!
Here is how you can unwrap Him!
• Recognized that you are a sinner
• Repent of your sins
• Receive Jesus the Christ as your Savior for your sins
