Introduction

Good morning, Church family! Today, we're going to dive into a powerful passage from the book of Ezekiel. Now, Ezekiel was a prophet who wasn't afraid to tell it like it is, and this passage is no different.

Before we get started, let's look at the words of Joan Jessalyn Cox, "The greatest prosperity we can have is to have a good Christian character. Our conversation will reflect all our moral values, and our actions will confirm the principles we live by." How profound is that? Let's bear this in mind as we move forward.

Now, let's read our passage for today, Ezekiel 22:23-40:

Let's pause for a moment and say a prayer before we dive into our sermon.

Dear Lord, we thank you for gathering us here today. We ask that our hearts be open and receptive to your Word and that through it, we might gain understanding and wisdom. Help us to strive towards the example of a Godly man and to turn away from any paths that lead us astray. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Let’s get started!

The Need for Men of God

The passage we've just read paints a vivid picture of a society that has lost its way, a society that is in desperate need of men who are willing to stand up for God's truth. The prophets, the priests, the leaders of the people, they have all failed in their duties. They have not upheld God's law, they have not distinguished between the holy and the common, and they have not respected the Sabbath. In short, they have not been men of God.

Our modern world: We might not be prophets or priests, but we are all called to be men of God. We are all called to uphold God's law, to distinguish between the holy and the common, and to respect the Sabbath. We are all called to be leaders in our own spheres of influence, whether that's in our families, our workplaces, or our communities. And just like in Ezekiel's time, our society is in desperate need of men who are willing to answer this call.

Why is this need so urgent?: When men of God are absent, society suffers. We see this in Ezekiel's description of a land that is not cleansed or rained upon, a land where human lives are devoured, where treasure and precious things are taken, where many widows are made. These are the consequences of a society without men of God, a society where God's law is not upheld, where the holy and the common are not distinguished, where the Sabbath is not respected.

What does it mean to be a man of God?

It means to be a man who seeks after God's heart, who strives to live according to God's law, who respects the holy and the common, who honors the Sabbath ... View this full PRO sermon free with PRO
