Summary: Time is so important the Bible commands us to “redeem the time.”

What is time?

A. Gift from God.

Every day of life is a gift. Understanding that God is the giver of life, and that the length of our days are in His hands, we realize that time is a gift from God.

James 4.14 “Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.”

Proverbs 27:1 “Boast not thyself of to morrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.”

Psalm 118:24

24The LORD has done it this very day; let us rejoice today and be glad.

B. Time Constantly Passing

Psalms 39:4,5

“LORD, make me to know mine end, and the measure of my days, what it is; that I may know how frail I am. Behold, thou hast made my days as an handbreadth; and mine age is as nothing before thee: verily every man at his best state is altogether vanity.”

Time is a precious matter. Time is a passing matter.

C. Time Will End

Hebrews 9:27 “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.”
