What Is The Point Of Church In My Life?

Summary: So the problem I pray that we solve for someone today or in the near future is this: What is the point in going to church? Why should I care? What's in it for me?
Let us look at five very important points this day.

A POSITION FOR RELATIONSHIPS
Church was once an important Event
They:
Broke bread
Spoke of Christ
Saw wonders and miracles
Impressed their community
Grew the church daily
They realized what they had in common:
Sinful past
Holy future
Children/Family
The churches of old, mentioned in today's passage, was a major event for each one of those people.
Because of their ACTION,..,.not INACTION their community knew of them and welcomed them.
And we are told that the church grew each day
There, you can assist your BROTHERS and SISTERS in bringing JOY to your community
There, you will build LASTING RELATIONSHIPS
There, no one is any better than anyone else
And there is a whole lot of sharing there.
People give each other rides to the doctor's office
They help were there is an illness or even when their are financial crisis
YOU CAN'T GET any of that at HOME or in the DEER BLIND!

A POSITION FOR GROWTH
The CHURCH can GROW on YOU!
The LORD told me to tell you that!
This Passage depicts praying, communion, eating and worshiping together
Was there a bond?
How about our church?
Maybe it's because the church is missing people like you!
When you are not with them...there is a HOLE
How well can a FOOTBALL team play football without their quarterback?
Can they do without their janitor who cleans the toilets?
Can they do it without the person who makes the finest coffee?
Or makes them laugh when they are sad?
Or leads them in song?
Or helps them keep their heads on straight?
As a team we GROW TOGETHER!
Everybody suffers with:
No coffee
No jokes
No song leader
No team
Shouldn't our churches today be like those of old?
Of COURSE they SHOULD!

A POSITION WITH A PURPOSE 18. SUMMATION
In verses 44 and 45 we read that each of them had work to do.
They supported the church by selling wares and going door-to-door as well,.
They were UNITED in everything they did.
Their community benefited from all of this focused LOVE
If they had a NEED...it was FULFILLED
People knew them and knew of them because of their MISSION
There purpose was to LOVE and to GIVE
Society has LOST THEIR PURPOSE
But...the CHURCH has a whole can of PURPOSE waiting for them.
We need to FOCUS on lining up this church's PURPOSE with societ\y's NEEDS. Again... that's were you come in!
No one can do it ALONE!
It takes a VILLAGE!

A POSITION OF WORSHIP
Why do I need to seek this church building on a Sunday, when I can actively pray from my DEER BLIND?
The simple answer is: YOU WON'T
The physical and metaphysical CHURCH is a place to take REFUGE from the STORM
You will FIND that it is the most PEACEFUL place you can find.
Imagine sitting in a PEW on a Saturday night or praying at the ALTAR?
You might say, "pastor, no one does that anymore!"
And you would be right.
And perhaps that is why we have 60 million dead babies in this land.
Maybe that is why we have such drug problems.
Maybe that is why our murder rate is so high.
There is NO BETTER PLACE to WORSHIP your GOD than in CHURCH...within those four walls...NO BETTER PLACE!

A POSITION OF IMPACT
The early church had such an impact on the surrounding communities.
Some where GOOD and some not so GOOD.
But one thing is for sure...they added to the CHURCH daily.
They GREW...and then they GREW some more.
Maybe by not going to church or not going to church regularly
you are negatively impacting more than just a few Sunday services.
Do you think David knew the IMPACT he would have on GOLIATH when he got out of bed on that FATEFUL day...
The answer is NO
God used David as an instrument
He wants to use every one of us as instruments
In His hands...we are FINE-TUNED instruments
CLOSING
God has a PERFECT position waiting for you
He knows what the church is missing
He knows what you can contribute
He wants to position you for a bright future
He needs you to help with GROWTH of his kingdom
He yearns for you to join His team
He wants to set you up where you will have the MOST IMPACT
He knows what His church is missing and often it is YOU!
Isn't there something you can do to POSITION yourself for a bright FUTURE?
Isn't there someplace where you can learn to be POSITIONED PERFECTLY to help GROW HIS KINGDOM?
