Summary: Man is express image of his creator, God.

What is Man?

Heb 1:2-4

David asked a challenging question in Psalm 8:4 which he answered in Psalm 8:5-6, while revealing the position of man in God's creation, to the best of the knowledge of his time but the writer of the book of Hebrews gave true account of the original man God created (Heb 1:2-4), which corroborates Genesis 1:27.

"Hebrews 1:2-4 KJV

Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they."

God took creation of man very seriously that He used extra efforts; when He formed man from dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils breath of life (Gen 2:7), while other creatures were words spoken into existence (Gen 1:2-25).

As a matter of fact, the man (Adam) who God created was to have dominion over all other creatures (Gen 1:26). The dominant power of Adam accounted for the glory of God on his life (1 Kings 17:4-6). Adam got withdrawn from the glory when he disobedient his creator (Rom 3:23) and thus enmity began between him and other creature(s). Animals that are supposed to be fearful of man became terrifying; man now runs fearfully from lions, serpents, bulls etc, and were plants made thistles and poisonous for consumption (Gen 3:14-18).

Also, Adam lost honour and dignity which he could have received from the angels (Psm 78:24-25; Heb 1:14), consequently, he had to labour for his survival for the short period of existence on earth (Gen 3:19).

In addition, God created Adam for the purpose of populating garden of Eden (Gen 1:28a) with his like in order to fully substitute Lucifer and his cohorts, whose primary assignment was to praise God always (Eze 28:13). God declared the reason He created man to Moses: man would hold feast unto God (Gen 5:1).

Feast would be a medium of unity where men in one accord fellowship with their creator (1 Cor 1:9; 1 John 1:3). Evidently, Genesis 3:8 has it that God would come in the cool of the day to fellowship with Adam. Lucifer had lost this opportunity because of his arrogance (Ezek 28:13-15) and was successfully replaced by Adam, but out of jealously he deceived man and made Adam a candidate of same final destination (lake of fire) (Rev 20:10, 15) as his (Satan's).

Unfortunately, every man (past, present and future) was created same moment Adam was made. The whole mankind were in the loin of Adam at the time of creation (Heb 7:9-10) and have become candidate of curses which Adam chose (Deut 30:19-20) rather than the blessings which God willingly gave him (Deut 1:28a).

It's not surprising that man is associated with consequences of disobedience to God's commandments as stated in Deuteronomy 28:15-68. Invariably, all have sinned through Adam unto death (Rom 5:12-14).

However, it is not the desire of God to have any man should perish, but that all should come to repentance (Ezek 18:32; 2 Pet 3:9). God's goodness is much to such an extent that His mercy has capacity and capability to nullify any consequences of sins (Psm 136:1-25), even death (destruction in lake of fire (Rev 20:14-15)) (John 10:10b). Man should be restored as God wills.

Prerequisites for Restoration of Man

1) Acknowledge and confess the sinful nature in you (1 John 1:7-10).

2) Restitute and repent of all evils (2 Chro 7:14; Matth 3:11; 1 Tim 2:4).

3) Be born again by living and walking in the Spirit (John 3:5-6; Gal 5:25).

4) Live by faith of Jesus Christ (Gal 2:20; Heb 10:38; 11:6).

5) Walk in the truth by obeying commandments of Jesus which include bearing love towards God and all men (John 15:10; 2 John 4). Others (Matth 11:29; 2 Tim 2:15; Matth 22:37-40; Matth 28:18; Matth 28:19; Luk 18:1; Luk 11:13; John 6:50, 56, 58).
