What Is Holding Our Church Together
Contributed by Dr.w.samuel Legon on Jan 8, 2016 (message contributor)
Summary: Keep the church by doing what God says to do.
WHAT IS HOLDING OUR CHURCH TOGETHER
Philippians 1: 3 I thank my God upon every remembrance of you,
4 Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy,
5 For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now;
6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:
We see little churches failing every year why Is this happening because of discord among members.
Because of pride and power.
(1) Because of Salvation through Jesus Christ.
Jesus died and rose again.
Because we believe he lives today.
Because of his Holy Spirit.
Because of his Love.
(2) Salvation gives us freedom from our past.
Isaiah 1: 18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
We become righteous by repentance.
Our past sins are gone and forgot through the blood.
We just trust in the Jesus and him alone.
(3) Salvation gives us a present.
Mark 16: 15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
Our purpose is to share Jesus with the world.
We are to worship God.
We should tell others about Jesus.
We are a body of believers
(4) Salvation gives us a future..
Philippians 1: 6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:
When he splits the eastern sky life eternal.
Assurance from heaven.
We will be at home with the Lord.
We can trust him all the time.
The bible tells us all that shall come.
(5) Serving him holds us together.
Philippians 4: 10 But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly, that now at the last your care of me hath flourished again; wherein ye were also careful, but ye lacked opportunity.
Philippians 4: 13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
14 Notwithstanding ye have well done, that ye did communicate with my affliction.
The Philippians church took care of Paul.
They were there to help Paul.
They were there as servants of the gospel.
We need to be servants of that same gospel.
(6) Bearing each others burrdens.
Galatians 6: 2 Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.
We need to bear each others burdens.
There are people hurting.
They need someone willing to bear a part.
The bible commands us to do so.
Set a side selfish desires.
(7) Pray for each other.
Philippians 1: 4 Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy,
Prayer holds us together.
(8) Love one another.
1st John 4: 7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
1st John 2: 9 He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now.
Hold the church together by loving one another.
