Summary: A description of what hell is really like according the blessed 1611 King James Bible

WHAT IS HELL REALLY LIKE!

Luke 16:20-31

Intro: Some people ask why Bible believing preachers are so dogmatic about the preaching of Hell. This place called Hell is made reference to in the Bible 116 times as a place of torment, separation, fire, grave and an eternal home of the lost. As great as Heaven is it is only made reference to 28 times in the capacity of the eternal home of the believer. For years preachers have been warning people not to go to hell. But people refuse the warning and go there daily. Even through the course of this service and as I preach people will be going to Hell. Even through my most vivid description of Hell I could never fully bring to light the horrible place it really is.

I. Hell is a place of weeping

A. “There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth” (Matt 8:12)

B. No tears will be shed in Hell but the uncontrollable sobs of the lost will ring through every portal of Hell

II. Hell is a place of torment

A. “I am tormented in this flame” (Luke 16:24) was heard from the rich man as he burned in Hell

B. There will be bodily pain as the fire scorches your body and your eyeballs are melted out of their sockets

C. Your tongue will swell in your mouth

III. Hell is a place of outer darkness

A. You will not see anyone in Hell but you will hear them

B. Darkness gives you a lost sense of balance

C. It could be as you stumble and fall through hell you will bump into someone and bite and gnaw on them and it very well could be your child that you failed to tell about Jesus and you will not care

IV. Hell is a place of unquenchable fire (Mark 9:46,48)

A. Hell will be a place hotter than any fire you have ever experienced on this earth and it will never be extinguished but only intensify with every soul that enters into its flame

B. (Mark 9:46, 48) Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.

V. Hell is a place of thirst

A. The rich man begged for Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool his tongue

B. (Illustrate)

VI. Hell is a place of memory

A. (Luke 16:25) But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.

B. Lost men and women will remember the messages and altar calls they rejected

VII. Hell is a place of passion for souls

A. The rich man did not want his brothers there

B. No one in Hell wants you to come there

VIII. Hell is a place of unanswered prayer

IX. Hell is forever!!

Closing: As sure as I am standing here tonight there may be someone here who will go to Hell. You don’t want to go there but because of your continual rejection of the call of God you will go. Some may go quietly and some may go tragically but when you are there you can never come back. Some people spend a not believing there is a Hell but it will not take them two seconds when they get there to believe there is one.
