2023.02.19.What is GOD saying to you?

William Akehurst, HSWC

Big Idea: Understanding that HOLY SPIRIT teaches and guides us. JESUS said my sheep listen to my voice. To hear his voice, we must be HIS Sheep. We live and are alive by HIS WORD. So, WHAT is GOD saying to you?

HOLY SPIRIT IN YOU

Galatians 4:6 (NLT)

And because we are HIS children, GOD has sent the SPIRIT of HIS SON into our hearts, prompting us to call out, “Abba, Father.”

HOLY SPIRIT TEACHING YOU

John 14:25-31 (NKJV)

25 “These things I have spoken to you while being present with you. 26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. 27 Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. 28 You have heard Me say to you, ‘I am going away and coming back to you.’ If you loved Me, you would rejoice because I said, I am going to the Father,’ for My Father is greater than I.

29 “And now I have told you before it comes, that when it does come to pass, you may believe. 30 I will no longer talk much with you, for the ruler of this world is coming, and he has nothing in Me. 31 But that the world may know that I love the Father, and as the Father gave Me commandment, so I do. Arise, let us go from here.

JESUS SPEAKING TO YOU. INSTRUCTING AND GUIDING

John 10:27-30 (NLT)

27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.

28 I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me, 29 for my Father has given them to me, and he is more powerful than anyone else. No one can snatch them from the Father’s hand. 30 The Father and I are one.”

LISTEN TO HIS VOICE. DON’T REFUSE HIS INSTRUCTION

Hebrews 4:7 God again set a certain day, calling it “Today.” This he did when a long time later he spoke through David, as in the passage already quoted: “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts.”

DO NOT REFUSE, OR HARDEN YOUR HEART

Psalms 95:6-7 (KJV)

6 O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker. 7 For he is our God; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. To day if ye will hear his voice, 8 Harden not your heart, as in the provocation, and as in the day of temptation in the wilderness:

QUENCH NOT HOLY SPIRIT

1 Thessalonians 5:19 Do not quench the Spirit.

AS CHILDREN OF GOD, WE SHOULD BE HEARING HIS WORD TO US.

John 8:47 He who is of God hears God’s words; therefore you do not hear, because you are not of God.”

FAITH COMES BY LISTENING AND HEARING

Romans 10:14-17 (NKJV)

14 How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? 15 And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written:

“How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, Who bring glad tidings of good things!”

16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “LORD, who has believed our report?” 17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

HEARING GOD’S WORD – HIS VOICE, BRINGS EVERLASTING LIFE. BYPASSING JUDGMENT AND DEATH TO BRING US TO LIFE. WE ARE DEAD UNTIL WE HEAR THE VOICE OF GOD AND BECOME ALIVE.

John 5:24-25 24 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.

25 Very truly I tell you, a time is coming and has now come when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God and those who hear will live.

JESUS SAYS HINENI, HERE I AM.

LISTEN AND HEAR HIS VOICE, OPEN THE DOOR AND FEAST, SOAK IN HIM.

Revelation 3:20 Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.

LISTEN, GOD PROMISES PEACE TO HIS FAITHFUL

Psalm 85:8 I will listen to what God the LORD says; he promises peace to his people, his faithful servants–but let them not turn to folly.
