"What Is An Earthly Tragedy"

Thank you for all the testimonies that I received from “What is your favorite Bible verse” and “Why”. It is amazing how God’s word can comfort, humble us, restore, bring repentance and hope all in the same verse. On “MSN” this morning there is an article of a family of 7 flying home from a family reunion so they could attend church yesterday. Their plane crashed in a wooded area in Alabama and all left this world. The father and mother died but so did all five children ages 2,4,6,9 and 10.

WHY??

1 Peter 1:8,9 “Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

So what is YOUR ultimate goal? Our ministry is named The Ultimate Decision as there is no other decision more important in this world than accepting the free gift of God for Salvation for all that believe in Him. But in this life we can sometimes lose sight of our goal and settle for less. We can settle for things seen instead of the glory that is unseen.

When Moses went up on Mt. Sinai to get the 10 Commandments the Israelites started to grumble and have doubt that Moses would never come back. Now here is the interesting part. God has made in each of us a desire to worship. But the Israelites convinced Aaron and the other leaders to build a gold calf that they could worship. A gold calf they could see. Waiting on an invisible God they could not see they grew impatient. So in impatience they made a god of their own.

Today you will have many choices. What god will you worship today? It is it the god of money that you think brings security. Is it the god of power and status, the god of health or the one true God? This family received the goal of their faith in one millisecond. They were all ushered to be with Jesus at once. That is the goal of our faith. To see and to be with Jesus. Nothing else on this earth will last. So today please try not to be a nation or a person that needs to see the nail scarred hands to believe. Try not to be the person who can’t wait for Jesus and starts to put their hope in created things instead of the creator. If you have a hard time with this please pray this prayer.

“Lord forgive me for my impatience and doubt. I want my faith to be strong and not have a faith that is tossed like the waves of the ocean back and forth. Lord help my hope to be in you and you alone. Please keep my feet on firm footing and help me to never waver from the truth. Thank you Jesus for saving me.”

Yes, what we see as tragedy in this life is no tragedy at all. Loss of life in this world is just being able to go to our real home for all that believe in Jesus. That should be joy. Real tragedy is leaving this world without the security of knowing Jesus. Today let us share the story of our salvation with others and the true hope that we have. Then pray for God’s power to save the lost.
