What If?
Contributed by Duane Boehm on Oct 10, 2014 (message contributor)
Summary: Often we wonder why God doesn't work today as in the past, well maybe we ought to look at it as a blessing God doesn't always act today as then. This sermon will point that out
What If?
Romans 6:1-2
intro: In this outline we will look at the question why doesn't God work today as in the past and maybe see a blessing He doesn't always do the same thing.
1) What if God never condemned sin
John 8:1-11
the people try to trap Jesus
His answer is He who without sin--Maybe we need to look at ourselves before condemning others. every time you point at someone you have fingers pointing back at you.
If Jesus never condemned sin (He didn't condone this sin either)
A) we wouldn't know His Grace -- Rom 6:23
B) we wouldn't know His compassion --Heb 12:6
C) we wouldn't know how to forgive -- Eph. 4:32
2) What if God punished sin immediately
Acts 5:1-11
Annanias and Saphira
If God judged sin right away as in this passage
A) be no world to love-- all would be dead --John 3:16
B) no one could be saved-Eph. 2:8-9
c) we wouldn't know His mercies--Lam. 3:23
3) What if He gave into the flesh
Heb. 4:15 --tempted as us yet without sin
A) Be no death/remission of sin --Luke 22:42 / Heb. 9:22
B) our preaching be in vain -- 1 Cor. 15:14
C) be no ordinance given to the church
ordinances of baptism / communion
Conclusion: Maybe we ought to be glad God works in his own way and own Time.
What a Great God we serve!!!!!!!
