Summary: The importance of remembrance! What He did yesterday can help us today!

The man who left his wife at the gas station....He said, "I noticed it got quite in the car.

Joshua 4:19-24-Now the people came up from the Jordan on the tenth day of the first month, and they camped in Gilgal on the east border of Jericho.

And those twelve stones which they took out of the Jordan, Joshua set up in Gilgal.

Then he spoke to the children of Israel, saying: “When your children ask their fathers in time to come, saying, ‘What are these stones?’ then you shall let your children know, saying, ‘Israel crossed over this Jordan on dry land’; for the Lord your God dried up the waters of the Jordan before you until you had crossed over, as the Lord your God did to the Red Sea, which He dried up before us until we had crossed over, that all the peoples of the earth may know the hand of the Lord, that it is mighty, that you may fear the Lord your God forever.”

Joshua 3:15-and as those who bore the ark came to the Jordan, and the feet of the priests who bore the ark dipped in the edge of the water (for the Jordan overflows all its banks during the whole time of harvest),

You are not in a difficult situation if you are trying to cross the Jordan river, you are in a impossible situation!

When it’s to tough for others, it’s just right for God!

This is to remember what God has done at the Red Sea and at the Jordan River, and the reason we need to remember that is because we have more rivers to cross, we more barriers to go thru!

When you face your next problem, when your faced with impossible odds, remember.......

The same God who was at the Rea Sea and and the same God who was at the Jordan River.

Is the same God you are to look to, when the banks are overflowing and you need a miracle!

The reason we have the Lord’s Supper is to remember what Christ did for us on the cross, and how He had power over death and the grave!

But God wants us to know what He did in the past but just as important is to know what He can do in the here and now!

Judas the betrayer spoke of it as ’innocent blood (Matthew 27:4)

1 Peter 1:19-but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.

1 John 1:7-But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.

Rev. 1:5-and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth. To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood,

Acts 20:28-Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood.

Eph. 1:7-In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace

Col. 1:14-in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.

The same power that raised Him from the dead, is the same power that can deliver you, same power that can heal you, same power sustain you!

The same power that held back the raging waters, can protect you and your family!

The same power that didn’t let Israel’s sandals wear out in the wilderness, is the same power that will provide for your needs!!!

The reason they needed to remember is the the same reason we come today and partake of the Lord’s Supper..... that all the peoples of the earth may know the hand of the Lord, that it is mighty, that you may fear the Lord your God forever.”
