Summary: In Acts chapter 9, when Saul is persecuting the church, we see the Holy Spirit revealed, as prophesied in the Book of Joel.

A loud, overwhelming voice echoed from the sky ‘WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS TO ME?’

Saul, the persecutor of God’s people is blinded by a bright light.

The zealous man who was persecuting God’s people was suddenly stopped.

The message from Jesus to the oppressor is clear; ‘You mess with my people; you are messing with Me.’

When Jesus finished the work on the cross of Calvary, we received many benefits.

One of them is the promised gift of the Holy Spirit.

In Acts chapter 9, when Saul is persecuting the church, we see the Holy Spirit revealed, as prophesied in the Book of Joel.

“I will pour out my Spirit on all people.

Your sons and daughters will prophesy,

Your old men will dream dreams,

Your young men will see visions.

Even on my servants, both men and women,

I will pour out my Spirit in those days.”

The encounter shook up Saul. He started praying.

While praying, he sees a vision of Ananias, a disciple of Jesus.

At the same time, Ananias is praying.

In a vision, he is shown Saul the persecutor and the address at Straight Street where Saul lives. He is instructed to go and pray for Saul so that his sight is restored.

At first, Ananias complains about the damage that Saul is causing the believers.

The Lord however helps Ananias understand that Saul is chosen for greater work.

Ananias obeys and finds the persecutor. He prays and Saul’s sight is restored. Saul is now able to see things differently. He is delivered from the spirit of persecution. He gets baptized, gets filled with Holy Ghost power and is renamed Paul.

After his conversion and baptism, Paul began to proclaim that Jesus is the Christ. He is a transformed man who goes on to become one of the greatest influencers of the Gospel of Jesus.

What’s Your Story?

Is there anything that’s hindering you?

Life? People? Circumstances? Fear?

Jesus paid the ransom to release you from all that has you entangled.

No opposition is big enough for the redeeming power of the Blood of Jesus and the empowerment of the Holy Spirit.

You were set free from everything that influenced your past the day you believed in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus.

No matter what your challenge or need is, reach out to the comforter, the helper. Jesus endured the cross so that we could receive the Holy Spirit power to be equipped for accomplishing tasks, to help us tackle our problems, overcome our fears, to clear the way before us, so we move forward and fulfil our divine calling.

What happened at Straight Street?

At Straight Street, the evil assignment against the Lord’s people was arrested by the power of the Holy ghost.

The Holy Spirit equips us to overcome obstacles that interrupt and stall us from accomplishing our true-life purpose.

Would you reach out to that Helper today?

He will equip you, renew and redirect you in fresh and creative ways of accomplishing God’s plans and purposes for your life.
