What God's Love Does Not Do

Summary: God is love, but God is not love ALONE! God is a jealous God and a God of wrath. Therefore, there are some things that God cannot do even though His love for us is so great. If God were to accept the things discussed, it would go against His very nature.
WHAT GOD’S LOVE DOES NOT DO!
“Rom. 5:6-8”
A. The Word “Love” Is Used About 400 Times In The Bible.
1. Love Ties Us To Our Relationship With God.
2. John 3:16 GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD
3. John 14:15 IF WE LOVE HIM, WE WILL KEEP…
B. Love Is Often ABUSED.
C. For Some, It Is Like An Umbrella, Covering Our Sins.
D. Well, As Great As God’s Love Is For Us, There Are Some Things God’s Love Simply Cannot Do!
1) DOES NOT JUSTIFY THOSE IN THE WRONG
A. Even If One Is SINCERE! Matt. 7:21-23
1. Example: Saul Persecuting Christians.
2. Jews Persecuting Stephen [Acts 7]
B. Would Sincerity Be Enough For A PHYSICIAN? How About A PHARMACIST?
1. Why Do We Think It Is Good Enough For A PREACHER?
2. Or, A Sincere PERSON?
C. Some Might Say, “God Wouldn’t Send Someone To Hell For..”
1. Or, Would He?
2. Do We Play God With Other People’s Lives?
2) DOES NOT JUSTIFY UNREPENTANT SINNERS
A. Some Might Say, “We Are All Sinners.”
1. Rom. 3:23 ALL HAVE SINNED
2. Rom. 3:10 NONE RIGHTEOUS, NO NOT ONE
B. True! But God Has Commanded REPENTANCE!
1. Acts 17:30 NOW COMMANDS ALL MEN EVERY-WHERE TO REPENT
2. Acts 2:36-39
3) DOES NOT BYPASS OBEDIENCE
A. Heb. 5:8-9
B. If Jesus Needed To Be Obedient, Shouldn’t We?
1. Lk. 2:49 MUST BE ABOUT MY FATHER’S BUSINESS
2. Jn 9:4 MUST WORK THE WORKS OF HIM..
4) DOES NOT PERMIT UNAUTHORIZED WORSHIP
A. Does It Really Matter How We Worship?
1. Some Might Say, “It Only Effects Me”
2. Lev. 10:1-2
B. Jn 4:24 GOD IS SPIRIT, THOSE WHO WORSHIP HIM MUST WORSHIP IN SPIRIT AND TRUTH
C. Matt. 15:9 IN VAIN THEY WORSHIP ME, TEACHING AS DOCTRINES THE COMMANDMENTS OF MEN.
5) DOES NOT DO AWAY WITH HELL:
A. Some Have The Idea That God Is An Old Softy.
1. “God Won’t Send Anyone To Hell”
2. “How Can A Loving God Send One To Hell?”
B. Did You Know Jesus Spoke About Hell More Than Any Other Bible Writer?
C. Matt. 25:31-46
D. God Cannot Be God And Not Keep His Word!
Conclusion:
A. God Does LOVE YOU!
B. Some Things His Love CANNOT Do—
1. Justify WRONG
2. Justify An UNREPENTENT Sinner
3. Bypass OBEDIENCE
4. Permit UNAUTHORIZED Worship
5. Do Away With HELL
