“What Do We Do And Where Do We Go When Life Becomes Overwhelming?”
Hebrews 6:18-20
We Run To God Because…
A. The PROMISE of refuge we have is based upon God’s Immutability. (v. 18) That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us Numbers 23:19; 1 Samuel 15:29; Psalm 110:4; Malachi 3:6; Matthew 24:35; Romans 3:4; 4:16; 1 Corinthians 1:9; 10:13; 1 Thessalonians 5:24; Titus 1:2; Hebrews 7:21; 10:23
B. The PLACE we can find refuge is based on that steadfast hope. (v. 19) Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil Exodus 25:8; Leviticus 16:2-3, 15; 19:30; 20:3; Numbers 8:19; 35:11-15; Joshua 20:1-9; 1 Chronicles 30:8; Psalm 20:2; 42:5, 11; 43:5; 63:2; 68:24; 73:17; 77:13; 96:6; 134:2; 150:1; Isaiah 4:4-6; 8:14; Ezekiel 37:26, 28; 44:9; Matthew 27:51; Mark 15:38; Luke 23:45; Romans 5:4; Hebrews 4:14; 9:1-28; 13:11
C. The PERSON who has entered that place is our Refuge. (v. 20) Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec Deuteronomy 33:27; 2 Samuel 22:3; Psalm 9:9; 14:6; 46:1, 7, 11; 48:3; 59:16; 62:7-8; 71:7; 91:2, 9; 94:22; 142:5; 146:5-6; Isaiah 12:2; 25:3-4; Jeremiah 16:19; 17:7-8; Zechariah 6:13; John 14:1-3; Romans 5:2; 8:28-39; 1 Corinthians 15:58; Ephesians 2:18; 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17; Hebrews 1:3; 4:15-16; 7:25; 10:20-23; 1 Peter 3:22
