Summary: A sermon about the spiritual blessings found in Christ.

“His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire.” 2 Peter 1:3-4

Consider the spiritual blessings we have in Christ listed in Ephesians 1:3-7: chosen, adopted, grace given, redemption, word of God, heirs of God, sealed with the Holy Spirit, accepted in the beloved (church).

1. A LIGHT THAT CANNOT BE PUT OUT!

A. John 8:12 – the world is groping around in darkness, ignorance, superstition,

cruelty, lust, with no standard!

B. But in Christ we have light! – A lighted standard to shine the way! John 1:5, Matthew 5:16

2. A WAY THAT CANNOT BE CLOSED DOWN!

A. John 14:6 – He said this in response to the question, “How can we know the way?”

B. The world is directionless, purposeless, aimless, pleasure seeking, and never satisfied!

C. But in Christ we have a life of direction, purpose, we have an aim, all of which brings us

pleasure that is satisfying! – Ephesians 2:8, Romans 5:1

3. A HOPE THAT WILL NOT FADE AWAY!

A. 1 Peter 1:3-5 – Your hope is alive! Some of us know what it feels like when hope dies.

The crushing weight of the inevitable end. The moment when all the air goes out of

your lungs and you feel as hollow and empty as an empty plastic cup! But Not Us!

B. Hebrews 6:19 & John 10:28

4. A SALVATION THAT CANNOT BE USED UP!

A. Hebrews 5:9 – Jesus saves, he ain’t gone out of business! He’s not run out of

forgiveness! In Christ we still have redemption – Colossians 1:14

B. This water fall of God’s love just keeps flowing! - 1 John 1:7-9, 1 John 2:1-2

5. A LOVE THAT WILL NOT RUN OUT!

A. John 15:9-13 – Abide in Him! Obey Him! Reflect Him! Live like Him!

B. People will leave, jobs come and go, children move out and move on! But Christ is

always here for you – Ephesians 5:2, Romans 8:38-39, 2 Peter 3:9

Conclusion:

1. What did your get by the giving of the Son of God? EVERYTHING!!

2. Now that you have everything you need, what will you do with it?

3. Show God your appreciation for His gifts by putting them to use! Luke 12:43-48
