WHAT ARE YOU SEARCHING FOR? 08/21/05 AM
Jer 29:13
13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.
What does man search for?
People running up and down highways, spending money, developing relationships, only to be disappointed, discouraged, and still empty in their hearts.
Some say that there is a God shape vacuum in every human that can only br filled by God, and that’s true.
Only when God is fulfilling His purpose in your life can a you experience fulfillment, peace, joy, and completeness.
Satan knows this, so he has blinded the minds of the unbelievers in the world, and it takes the power of God to open their eyes and convince them of their sins.
Man is searching, but he is searching for a god that agrees with his morality.
A god that would certainly send no one to hell for the wrongs they commit. I mean, God gave us these passions and desires, what’s wrong with fulfilling them? It’s simple logic.
God understands that abortions can be justified, and same sex marriages are also honorable and sacred.
Many people who have this concept of God are sitting on church pews this morning.
Logic has nothing to do with it. Unless man except Christ and His words, he will never know the true God, in this life or the life to come.
Instead of searching for God on the stairway to heaven, man finds many gods as he goes down the spiral of sin, and those gods are controlled by the god of this world, who will lead him to eternal destruction.
Prov 14:12
12 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
Even in the Christian world, man creates in his mind, a god that is sympathetic to unfaithfulness, and infidelity.
Surely God understands and He knows that we can’t be perfect. But that is a deception and its scary.
I believe that when people go looking look for another church, because the pastor preaches that God demands holiness and purity in their lives, they look for a church that agrees with their lifestyle, and a god that agrees with them, in spite of what the Word says, and they usually find one.
They have designed their own god, who fits right in to their lifestyle.
Its true, ask people, church goers or non-church goers, what they believe and you’ll find that they serve a totally different god than you do.
Are you really searching for truth, or are you happy with the status quo?
Heb 12:14
You know “without holiness no man shall see the Lord:”
Food for thought.
I’d be remiss if I didn’t tell you what I believe that God is searching for.
He is searching for:
1. Christian men and women. Christlike people, people who were made to see where their sins was leading them and gave their lives to Jesus.
He is looking for people who are applying His word to their lives, hungering and thirsting after His righteousness. People who are passionate about doing right.
People who appreciate the old rugged cross and what it represents.
Salvation, deliverance, healing, victory and the entrance to everlasting life.
Is He searching for you?
Ezek 22:30
30 And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.
Isa 59:15-16
truth faileth; and the LORD saw it, and it displeased him that there was no judgment.
16 And he saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor:
What a shame.
God is searching for Christians.
2. For courageous people.
People who will live right in the face of ridicule, mockery, and opposition.
Who will stand for what is right at all costs and not be ashamed to lift up the name of Jesus.
Preacher in San Antonio. He wasn’t ashamed, he was courageous.
3. Consecrated people.
People who have separated themselves from this world and it’s sinful pleasures. People pursuing holiness, purity, and God likeness in their lives. People who are committed to prayer, and applying God’s Word, givers, and who work for Him.
4. Consistent people.
People faithful to worship in God’s house when the doors are open.
People who can be counted on when called upon.
People faithful to their place of duty.
5. Compassionate people.
God is searching for people with warm hearts, sharing God’s love and people with willing hands to help.
God is searching for people who will kneel in prayer, weeping with those who weep, praying for their needs.
God is searching for people who will weep over lost souls.
