Summary: Jesus name

Matthew 1:18-25 WHAT’S IN A NAME? 21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. I. HIS NAME REVEALS HIS PERSONALITY (Emmanuel – God With Us) and thou shalt call his name JESUS A. It Reveals A Supernatural Baby – God in human flesh, John 1:1, In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 14; And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. B. It Reveals A Supernatural Birth – Not a normal birth, but a virgin birth, Isa. 7:14, Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. C. It Reveals A Supernatural Battler – Why would God enter this world? He came to fight a battle that humanity could never wage or win. He came to do battle with Satan and sin. For he shall save his people from their sins II. HIS NAME REVEALS HIS PURPOSE (Jesus – Jehovah Is Salvation) for he shall save A. It Speaks Of His Desire – Jesus reveals a God with a desire to save sinners. Luke 19:10 For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost. B. It Speaks Of His Deliverance – The name Jesus reminds us that He came into this world for the sole purpose of setting the “captives” free, Luke 4:18. The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, He came for the redemption of the lost, Titus 2:14. Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. C. It Speaks Of His Death – for he shall save his people from their sins. The name Jesus reminds us of the fact that He came into this world to die for our sins. The only way the sin problem could have been dealt with is through the shedding of blood, Heb. 9:22. And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission. III. HIS NAME REVEALS HIS POWER He shall save his people from their sins. A. He Is The Supernatural One – means Miracle, Supernatural, Secret & Extraordinary, Matthew 2:2 Wise Men Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him. B. He Is The Sovereign One – This word means “Hero.” It refers to “one Who is strong, mighty and invincible.” He alone is worthy to be our Hero for He has defeated all our enemies, 1 Cor. 15:57; But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. He alone is worthy of our worship. C. He Is The Saving One He shall save Personally, Powerfully, Persistently, (Dying Thief), Permanently. D. He Is The Sustaining One He will save His people from their sins . Jude v.24 Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,
