Weary In Well Doing
Contributed by James Powell on Dec 30, 2006 (message contributor)
Summary: Keep on Going
Ga 6:9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
Ga 6:10 As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.
Calvin Coolidge once said…
Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence.
Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful
men with great talent.
Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb.
Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts.
Persistence, determination alone are omnipotent.
Ga 6:9 And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. (NKJV)
Barnes - Christians sometunes become weary. There is so much opposition to the best plans for doing good; there is so much to be done; there are so many calls on their time and their charities; and there is often so much ingratitude among those whom they endeavour to benefit, that they become disheartened.
Remember to keep the “Big” picture in mind. The end result is souls. All of do really what we want to do. We are products of what we digest (reading, entertainment/Hobbies, etc). If we put forth all of our effort for God, it may get tiring, but it will be worth it.
Tony S. Searles - There is something to be said for those who do not give up easily on things and prevail in persistence with prayer, faith, and hope….
Joseph who had a dream that God gave him, one which he was thrilled so well with that he told others, ie, his brothers…
We know how the story goes, and Joseph is sold, jailed, and after some time placed as the second in command…then after many years, 20…they are found bowing, and thus, fulfilling the dreams which God had given Joseph those many years earlier.
KEEP YOUR DREAMS ALIVE!!!
(Pass out Papers)
Write out on them what you would like to see in the six months – put in your bible
George Mueller prayed for a neighbor for 45 years, witnessed to a neighbor for 45 years. Do you know when this man was saved? At the funeral of George Mueller. DON’T give up, don’t quit!
1Co 15:58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
I have given this illust. Before:
Chinese Bamboo tree. Chinese plant the seed. Water it and fertilize it for an entire year. Nothing happens. Water it and fertilize it for 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th. Nothing happens. Then in the fifth year, within 6 weeks…the bamboo tree grows from a seed to a tree over ninety feet tall. The work of God is just like that.
Heb 3:6 But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end.
2Th 3:13 But ye, brethren, be not weary in well doing.
PNTC - Let us not be weary in well doing. In sowing to the Spirit. Because, if we hold out faithful, and faint not, we are sure to reap in due season.
JWN - For in due season-When the harvest is come, we shall reap, if we faint not.
Ga 6:9we shall reap, if we faint not.
Barnes - He becomes pledged to do good and to serve God always.
