We Have A Failure To Communicate! (Hix)

Genesis 11:1-9-Now the whole earth had one language and one speech.

And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar, and they dwelt there. Then they said to one another, “Come, let us make bricks and bake them thoroughly.” They had brick for stone, and they had asphalt for mortar. And they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, and a tower whose top is in the heavens; let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth.” But the Lord came down to see the city and the tower which the sons of men had built. And the Lord said, “Indeed the people are one and they all have one language, and this is what they begin to do; now nothing that they propose to do will be withheld from them. Come, let Us go down and there confuse their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech.” So the Lord scattered them abroad from there over the face of all the earth, and they ceased building the city. Therefore its name is called Babel, because there the Lord confused the language of all the earth; and from there the Lord scattered them abroad over the face of all the earth.

Language barrier separates more people than any wall could have, it is more effective than any national border.

Let Us-When ever we decide to do something, or achieve something with out God’s input or God’s permission, we will find ourselves in whole lot of trouble!

Let Us Make A Name For Ourselves-We things haven’t changed much, people are still trying to make a name for their self, trying to leave a legacy, trying to leave a mark on this old earth, trying to do something so people will remember they were here on this earth!

Some give lots money so buildings will be named after them or plaques will hang on a wall with their name on it!

Some do charity work, so they will have will be given a plague with their name on it!

Some play sports, so they can leave their mark, so they can excel in certain sport, or a certain position, so they will be remembered for their talents!

Some buy large tombstones, so they will be remembered!

Some people write books or write songs, or poetry, so they will be remembered!

Some people paint art, or sculpture, take photos of places or people, so they will be remembered!

Some people become politicians so they will remembered in history!

Some people invent something, so they will be remembered!

But The Lord Came Down To See-They were going to build a tower to the heavens, but the One who resides in the heavens, has to come down to earth just to see it!!

It shows us the great contrast of mankind and God, if man wants to reach God, God always has to come down to man!

It was so in the garden, and it is so today!

And The Lord Said, “Indeed The People Are One And They All Have One Language, And This Is What They Begin To Do; Now Nothing That They Propose To Do Will Be Withheld From Them.

We are created in the image of God, and since God is creative, it just make sense that mankind is too!

God is not surprised by this, this is not a question mark, this is a exclamation mark!

This is a declaration! When mankind comes together, nothing is impossible!

This is a proclamation! What potential mankind has!

What does this mean for Christians?

That means, that is if us Christians would come together, and would be of one accord, the would be no stopping the Christian faith!

Isn’t that what happen at Pentecost? To the first Christians!

When believers are in one accord with each other and with God!

No, giant to big! No, obstacle to hard! No, storm to rough! No, problem that can’t be solved! No, enemy that can’t be defeated!

That’s why, A Church Is At It’s Best When They Are In One Accord And At It’s Worst When There Is Division!

Same thing for Marriages, Partnerships, Nations, Government, Denominations, Team Sports, Employer and Employee, Teacher and Students….

I am sure it frustrates the devil, he gets people, nations, different religions, different nationalities to hate one another, even fight and kill one another. Then a national disaster happens, and those same people put aside their differences and reach out to one another in their time of need.

If the devil could get everybody in one accord, get everybody on the same page, just think of all the damage he could make happen on the earth! (Look how much havoc he was able to accomplish with Hitler)
