We Can Count on God Luke 18:1–11

1. Life Is Unpredictable, But God Is Dependable

• Life throws curveballs: illness, accidents, injustice.

• The world is unstable—but God is unshakable.

Luke 18 reminds us through the parable of the persistent widow: we can count on God even when we can’t count on the world.

2. We Can Count on God When Life Is Unexpected

• Health today can turn into sickness tomorrow.

• Accidents happen in seconds and change lives forever.

• Justice in this world is unreliable—just like the unjust judge.

• But God is not like the unjust judge. He hears us and responds quickly to those who cry out day and night.

• The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles.” – Psalm 34:17

• The world may fail us, but God never will.

3. We Can Count on God to Be Present

• Jacob said, “Surely the Lord is in this place, and I was not aware of it.” Genesis 28:16,

• David wrote, “Where can I go from your Spirit?” Psalm 139:7–10,

• Jeremiah reminds us: God fills heaven and earth. Jeremiah 23:23–24

• Paul declares: “In Him we live and move and have our being.” Acts 17:27–28

• God is not distant—He is always near.

4. We Can Count on God to Hear Us

• Jesus said, “Ask… seek… knock…” Luke 11:9–10

• God heard the groaning of the Israelites in Egypt. Exodus 6:5 Psalm 9:10

• The Psalmist declares: “You, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.”

• God hears every prayer—even in crisis.

5. We Can Count on God When We Hurt

• God does not ignore the cry of the afflicted. Psalm 9:12,

• David poured out his pain: sorrow, grief, loneliness. Psalm 9:18,

• Yet he trusted God to deliver and forgive. Psalm 31

• God sees our tears—and He responds with comfort and healing.

6. We Can Count on God for Help John 3:16

• “Cast your cares on the Lord and He will sustain you.” Psalm 55:2

• “Do not fear; I will help you.” Isaiah 41:13

• “My God will supply all your needs…” Philippians 4:19

• God is our helper in every storm.

7. We Can Count on God to Be Holistic

• God doesn’t just fix parts of us—He restores the whole.

• He saves, heals, renews, and transforms.

• If you’re lost today, you can count on God to save you.

8. Conclusion: We can Count on God Always

• We can count on God to be present.

• We can count on God to hear.

• We can count on God when we hurt.

• We can count on God for help.

• We can count on God to be holistic.

• When the world is uncertain, God is your certainty. Count on Him—today, tomorrow, and forever.
