Deuteronomy 6:1-4 (Amplified Bible)

6:1 NOW THIS is the instruction, the laws, and the precepts which the Lord your God commanded me to teach you, that you might do them in the land to which you go to possess it,

6:2 That you may [reverently] fear the Lord your God, you and your son and your son’s son, and keep all His statutes and His commandments which I command you all the days of your life, and that your days may be prolonged.

6:3 Hear therefore, O Israel, and be watchful to do them, that it may be well with you and that you may increase exceedingly, as the Lord, the God of your fathers, has promised you, in a land flowing with milk and honey.

6:4 Hear, O Israel: the Lord our God is one Lord [the only Lord].

VIII. MAIN BODY:

A. As GOD's people, we are the LORD's portion

"For the Lord’s portion is His people;"

Psalms 33:12 (Amplified Bible)

33:12 Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people He has chosen as His heritage.

Galatians 6:16 (Amplified Bible)

6:16 Peace and mercy be upon all who walk by this rule [who discipline themselves and regulate their lives by this principle], even upon the [true] Israel of God!

Ephesians 1:18 (Amplified Bible)

1:18 By having the eyes of your heart flooded with light, so that you can know and understand the hope to which He has called you, and how rich is His glorious inheritance in the saints (His set-apart ones),

GOD is the One who have chosen us to be His chosen people and His heritage. True Israel of GOD consists of believing Jews and believing Gentiles. Israel is no longer subject to one country anymore. Israel refers to the attitude of the heart for the LORD - as believers. If you are a believer, then you are called Israel of GOD.

Portion or "cheleq" in Hebrew meaning:

1. smoothness

2. allotment

3. flattery, inheritance, part, partake, portion

That's why the LORD can't help it, but boast Job in front of the enemy. Because even in the old testament, the LORD Himself considered us as His allotment, and heritage.

Job 2:2-3 (Amplified Bible)

2:2 And the Lord said to Satan, From where do you come? And Satan (the adversary and the accuser) answered the Lord, From going to and fro on the earth and from walking up and down on it.

2:3 And the Lord said to Satan, Have you considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, one who [reverently] fears God and abstains from and shuns all evil [because it is wrong]? And still he holds fast his integrity, although you moved Me against him to destroy him without cause.

B. Israel of GOD is the lot of His inheritance

"Jacob (Israel) is the lot of His inheritance"

Lot or "chebel chebel" in Hebrew meaning:

1. rope, line, district

2. band, coast, company, cord, country, destruction, line, lot, pain, pang, portion, region, rope, snare, sorrow, tackling

Jeremiah 51:19 (Amplified Bible)

51:19 Not like these [gods] is He Who is the Portion of Jacob [the true God on Whom Israel has a claim], for He is the One Who formed all things, and Israel is the tribe of His inheritance—the Lord of hosts is His name.

1 Peter 2:9-10 (Amplified Bible)

2:9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a dedicated nation, [God’s] own purchased, special people, that you may set forth the wonderful deeds and display the virtues and perfections of Him Who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.
