Summary: Those words remind us that we are the Lord’s possession no matter what happens to us in life or in death.

Romans 14:7-9-For none of us lives to himself, and no one dies to himself. For if we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. Therefore, whether we live or die, we are the Lord’s. For to this end Christ died and rose and lived again, that He might be Lord of both the dead and the living.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20-Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.

Those words remind us that we are the Lord’s possession no matter what happens to us in life or in death.

J Vernon McGee comments that..." The truth is that we as Christians cannot live our lives apart from Christ. Whether you live, you will have to live to Him; whether you die, you will have to die to Him. Our Christian conduct is not gauged by the foods spread out on the table, but by the fact that our lives are spread out before Him. That is the important thing. One day we are going to have to give an account of the things we have done in this life."

For If We Live, We Live To The Lord…Why are we still here on this old earth?

What is our purpose, what is the goal of the Christian life?

The answer to that question is simple…We are to sow the seed (God’s Word), or maybe the plower’s of barren soil of people’s heart, we are to be light, in world that dark, to be salt in a unsavory world!

We are here to glorify Christ in our daily life.

We are here as workers for Him, and as workers together with Him!!

And If We Die, We Die To The Lord…In life sometimes you can’t help but notices how death comes, for some it is a long drawn out process, for others it happens quickly.

Death happens to the young, as well as to the old, some die painlessly, and some suffer great deal of pain.

So, you might wonder, how will you die? (I hope I have enough time to say to people what I need to say, tell that I love them, and enough time for them to say to me what they need to say.) (I have seen the effects on people who did not get a chance to say what they need to say, before that love one passed away…Regret)

If there is lots of pain and suffering before I die, will I lose my religion, in other words, will I bring dishonor to name of Jesus

So I find this statement from someone so comforting:

God is in control of not only our lives but how we die and when we die!

I do like John Calvin’s thought about this verse: “Thus too we are taught the rule by which to live and die, so that if he lengthens out life in the midst of continual sorrow and weariness, we are not to seek to depart before our time. but if he should suddenly recall us in the prime of our life, we must always be ready for our departure.”

Verse 12-So then each of us shall give account of himself to God.

This should be in the back of our mind, how we act, how we behave ourselves, how we conduct our business, what we say, what we do, how we live our life, that we will have to stand before God and give an account of our life, that is a sobering thought!

Maybe if us Christians would remember that and think about that, maybe we wouldn’t react the way we do in certain situations, or maybe we would be a little more kinder, little more gentler, little more compassionate, a little bit more willing to forgive others!

And maybe if we remembered these scriptures that we have read today, we would be reminded of that the world doesn’t revolve and us, it revolves around God, everything not about us, but everything is about God, and bringing Him honor and glory, that my friend is what matters most!

If you don’t believe that, trust me….You will get a chance to stand before Him and tell Him that, or plead your case!! By the way good luck with that!!

We Are The Lord’s-God can take one life and impact millions of people!
