Genesis 1:26-28

Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth."

So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

Then God blessed them, and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth."

New King James

Then God said, "Let us make human beings in our image and likeness. And let them rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the tame animals, over all the earth, and over all the small crawling animals on the earth."

So God created human beings in his image. In the image of God he created them. He created them male and female.

God blessed them and said, "Have many children and grow in number. Fill the earth and be its master. Rule over the fish in the sea and over the birds in the sky and over every living thing that moves on the earth."

New Century Version

1. We were created like Him.

What does it mean to be like Him? What is God like? Have you ever thought about it?

Psalm 8:5 NLT

For you made us only a little lower than God, and you crowned us with glory and honor.

(Or a little lower than the angels; Hebrew reads Elohim.)

Psalm 33:6 NLT

The LORD merely spoke, and the heavens were created. He breathed the word, and all the stars were born.

He spoke creative words & guess what He has said about us in His Word to us?

Proverbs 18:21 KJV

Death and life are in the power of the tongue…

Mark 11:23-24 NKJV

For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ’Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.

Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.

It is important that we understand Him so we can do what we are suppose to do like Him.

Exodus 34:10 NLT

The LORD replied, "All right. This is the covenant I am going to make with you. I will perform wonders that have never been done before anywhere in all the earth or in any nation. And all the people around you will see the power of the LORD – the awesome power I will display through you.

Acts 1:8 NKJV

But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."

God’s power manifest in the earth is not for exploiting or entertaining, but that lives would be changed & brought back into the family of God!

John 3:16-17

"For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.

God did not send his Son into the world to condemn it, but to save it.

John 13:34-35

So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other.

Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples."

We were made in His image to produce like He does. The Fruit of the Spirit in us!

2. The Choice to Doubt God & His Word Brought Seperation Between us & God.

Genesis 2:16-17

But the LORD God gave him this warning: "You may freely eat any fruit in the garden except fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. If you eat of its fruit, you will surely die."

Genesis 3:12-13

"Yes," Adam admitted, "but it was the woman you gave me who brought me the fruit, and I ate it."

Then the LORD God asked the woman, "How could you do such a thing?" "The serpent tricked me," she replied. "That’s why I ate it."

Listen carefully to the message to be learned here; “it is always someone elses fault for my failure to do the right thing.

We have the opportunity to live a life filled with the fullness of God everyday of our life if we will choose to obey & live the way God lives.
