SPIRITUAL GIFTS
ROMANS 12:4-8
INTRO: WE ALL HAVE A GIFT
1: MANY MEMBERS
A) LOT A DIFFERENT PEOPLE MAKE UP THE BODY OF CHRIST
B) PAUL USES A HUMAN BODY AS AN EXAMPLE
C) OUR BODY HAS MANY DIFFERENT PARTS
D) THEY DON’T ALL DO THE SAME THING
POINT: ARMS AND LEGS DON’T HAVE THE SAME FUNCTION. EVERY CHRISTIAN HAS THEIR OWN FUNCTION, OR GIFT. WE ALL DO DIFFERENT THINGS.
2: ONE BODY
A) ALL ONE IN CHRIST
B) WE DO DIFFERENT THINGS BUT FOR THE SAME REASON
C) TO GLORIFY GOD
D) TO PORCLAIM THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST
POINT: ARMS AND LEGS DON’T DO THE SAME THING BUT THEY WORK TOGETHER FOR THE SAME GOAL. THEY COMPLIMENT EACH OTHER AND MAKE EACH OTHER BETTER.
BODY: THE GIFTS
1: PROPHECY
A) MEANS TO SPEAK SOMETHING THAT GOD HAS SPONTANEOUSLY BROUGHT TO MIND.
B) THE KEY IS THE PROPORTION OF FAITH
C) PROPHECY IS BASED ON THE LEVEL OF MATURITY
D) AND ONE WHO USES PROPHECY SHOULD ALWAYS GIVE GOD FULL RECOGNITION
2: MINISTRY
A) SERVING PHYSCIALLY
B) EMOTIONALLY
C) SPIRTUALLY
D) DOING ANY SERVICE FOR THE CHURCH
POINT: EVERY CHRISTIAN IS COMMISSIONED TO BE PART OF THE MINISTRY.
3: TEACHING
A) THE GIFT OF KNOWING AND UNDERSTANDING GOD’S WORD
B) AND BEING ABLE TO SHARE THE TRUTHS OF GOD’S WORD WITH OTHERS
4: EXHORTATION
A) THE ABILITY TO ENCOURAGE OTHERS THROUGH GOD’S WORD
B) TO SPEAK UPLIFTING WORDS
C) OR DO KIND GESTURES OF FAITH AND HOPE
5: GIVING
A) PHYSICAL
B) SPIRITUAL
C) EMOTIONAL
POINT: GIVING IS MORE THAN MONEY, IT CAN BE GIVING OF YOUR TIME TO HELP OUT AT CHURCH, GIVING OF YOUR TALENT TO HELP SOMEONE. OR GIVING OF YOUR TREASURE TO PROMOTE AND SUPPORT THE CHURCH.
6: RULING
A) LEADERSHIP
B) THE ABILITY TO LEAD PEOPLE
C) SET THE EXAMPLE
D) DILIGENCE
7: MERCY
A) COMPASSION
B) THE ABILITY TO PROVIDE RELEIF
C) CHARITY
POINT: MERCY SHOULD BE DONE WITH CHEER, SO THE ONES WITH THE GIFT OF MERCY DON’T BECOME OVERTAKEN WITH DEPRESSION OR MORSENESS.
CONCLUSION:
NOT ALL THE SAME, BUT WE WORK FOR THE SAME THING. OUR DIFFERENT GIFTS AND ABILITIES SHOULD MAKE US DEPEND ON ONE ANOTHER, AND THEREFORE MAKE US MORE UNITED IN CHRIST.
