Modern day theology and the church has forgotten how to defend herself .

It’s called apologetics , defending the gospel

You see when you say I apologize, what you are actually doing is defending your position.

I apologize , I normally wouldn’t say anything but…..

So today in our era of fake news and bad information we want concrete data, we don’t know who or what we should trust anymore we need to see it for ourselves

We need to take moment of silence ,

Because the days of blind faith are dead, they are over .

People have lost faith , what Jesus did 2000 years ago can’t be substantiated with selfies and videos it is disregarded as flawed.

This is generation is who Jesus was speaking of

Matthew 16 : 1The Pharisees and Sadducees came up, and testing Jesus, they asked Him to show them a sign from heaven. 2But He replied to them, “When it is evening, you say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky is red.’ 3“And in the morning, ‘There will be a storm today, for the sky is red and threatening.’ Do you know how to discern the appearance of the sky, but cannot discern the signs of the times? 4“An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign; and a sign will not be given it, except the sign of Jonah.” And He left them and went away.

That the only sign would be the resurrection, He wouldn’t be speaking to the generation who hadn’t see the resurrection, but to the generation who wanted to see more.

Matthew Mark and Luke all recorded Jesus miracles, but it is John where he was producing signs and evidence

This generation right now are those who seek a sign .

Because we want it proved to us that Jesus is from Heaven

Something anything to prove that Jesus is God , the Messiah

Out of the 7 signs recorded in Johns Gospel,

The very first one comes about without any fanfare any new reports

No drama or spectacle

Take the feed of the 5000, there is this great back story

John6:2 A large crowd followed Him, because they saw the signs which He was performing on those who were sick

So many people had followed Him because of His signs the estimates where 15,0000 to this way out of the place location ,on the other side of the sea of Galilee

Now they had a big problem they needed to feed them and a boy with two fish and 5 loaves of bread provided the drama

But the Miracle at Cana has none of these back stories, or drama it was without any notice,

But if you ask anyone to name a miracle and the first one they point to , that most people are fascinated with is when Jesus turned water into wine

John 2:1On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there; 2and both Jesus and His disciples were invited to the wedding. 3When the wine ran out, the mother of Jesus said to Him, “They have no wine.” 4And Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does that have to do with us? My hour has not yet come.” 5His mother said to the servants, “Whatever He says to you, do it.” 6Now there were six stone waterpots set there for the Jewish custom of purification, containing twenty or thirty gallons each. 7Jesus said to them, “Fill the waterpots with water.” So they filled them up to the brim. 8And He said to them, “Draw some out now and take it to the headwaiter.” So they took it to him. 9When the headwaiter tasted the water which had become wine, and did not know where it came from (but the servants who had drawn the water knew), the headwaiter called the bridegroom, 10and said to him, “Every man serves the good wine first, and when the people have drunk freely, then he serves the poorer wine; but you have kept the good wine until now.”11This beginning of His signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, and manifested His glory, and His disciples believed in Him.

3When the wine ran out, the mother of Jesus said to Him, “They have no wine.

This has to be the most overlooked , misinterpreted verses in the Bible,

And it speaks to all of us

How many of you are guilty of not doing this very thing?

You have invited Jesus into your lives , you even put Him in a place of honor

And with Jesus standing right in the middle of your problems and you don’t turn to Him

You say nothing

This wasn’t a code red situation yet Mary didn’t hesitate

I think that verse 5 answers the question why
