WALKING IN DIVINE LIFE
Ps. 92:12-13; Rom. 6:4
Bishop David Ibeleme
Three (3) Kinds of Life –
Bios – Biological or natural life. It describes plant and animal life. This encompasses the body.
Psuche – Also speaks of natural life and is often referred to as manner of life. This encompasses the soul.
Zoe – The life of God, Eternal Life. This encompasses the Spirit.
Spiritual life emanates from the spirit realm and is more important than our natural life – Jn. 6.63; 4:24.
Zoe, being the life of God, is therefore Divine Life.
Zoe (divine life) is what makes God, God – Jn. 5:26.
It is the will of God that we walk in Divine Life – Jn. 10:10; 1:1-4; 1 Jn. 5:13; Jn. 5:26.
Flourishing is an expression of life – Ps. 92:12-13.
The palm tree and cedar are symbols of life, hence they depict flourishing and growth.
Flourishing flows out of Divine Life – Rom. 5:17.
Everything disconnected from its “life source” dies, it cannot flourish – Gen. 1.
Plant / Soil.
Fish / Water.
Birds of the air / air.
Man / God – Jn. 15:1-5.
Divine life eradicates death in all its ramifications, the same way light eradicates darkness – Jn. 1:4-5; 5:21; 1 Cor. 15:25-26, 51-58.
Ramifications of death eradicated by Divine Life – Deut. 28:15-68; Gen. 3.
Poverty, lack and want.
Sickness & Disease
Depression and Oppression
Destruction and Defeat etc.
Keys to Walking in Divine Life –
1. Our Identification with Divinity.
Identification with the God Head – 1 Jn. 5:7; Gen. 1:26;
Identification with the Father – Heb. 12:7; Eph. 3:15; Jn. 1:12; 1 Jn. 3:1-2 – We are God’s children – Gal. 4:7.
Identification with the Son – Eph. 1:6; 1:16-22; Rom. 5&6; 1 Jn. 1:1-4 – We are part of the second person of the God-Head – Jn. 17.
Identification with the Holy Spirit – Jn. 14:16 & 26.
He seals us – Eph. 1:3-6.
He indwells us – 1 Jn. 2:20&27.
He empowers us – Acts. 1:8.
He enlightens us – Is. 60:1.
He guides us – Jn. 16:13-15.
He is our comforter (Parakletos) – Jn. 14:16.
2. Identification with the Word –
The written word is the tangible expression of Divinity – Jn. 1:1-4; Jn. 6:63; Heb. 1:1-3.
It is more authentic than any human experience, facts or even natural evidence – Ps. 119:128; 2 Pet. 1:16-21.
No dream, vision or prophetic revelation can nullify the Word – Matt. 24:35.
It is the container or carrier of Divine Life – Jn. 6:63&68.
There is no life outside the Word of God – Deut. 6:6-9; Prov. 4:20-23.
To encounter this life, you must study and meditate on the Word – Josh. 1:8; 2 Tim. 2:15.
3. Faith in the Person of God and His Word – 1 Thess. 2:13; Acts 3:16.
This is manifested by acting on the Word or doing the Word boldly –
Matt. 7:24-27; Lk. 11:27-28; Jam. 1:22-25.
Ultimate deliverance is not a feature of sentiments but rather, a feature of being an uncompromising doer of the Word – Ps. 34:19; 119:92.
Jesus always pointed to doing the Word as more important than being connected naturally to anyone.
Consider the situations involving Jesus, his mother and the crowd during one of His meetings – Lk. 11:27-28.
This means doing the Word will produce results, irrespective of people’s natural background.
Whoever follows Word principles will be rewarded.
No doer of the Word can be defeated – Ps. 119:165; Prov. 4:20-23.
Doers of the Word will always flourish – Josh. 1:8.
Doing the Word is manifesting our identification with Divinity.
Doing the Word is Walking in Divine Life.
