Wake Up Call

I have felt a new stirring in my heart the last few weeks regarding the spiritual condition of the body of Christ. I am concerned that there are more Christians sleeping (spiritually) than praying.

I have watched the United States of America slowly deteriorate over the last few decades. The firm foundation that our Founding Fathers laid in this land is being desecrated by those with anti-Christ spirits and ungodly agendas. The United States of America is becoming a wobbling giant in the sight of our enemies. A nation that was once stable and strong is now becoming unstable as she knowingly and violently defies the God who birthed her.

Prayer and Bible reading are illegal in American public schools. Abortion, the murder of innocent babies is legal. Homosexuality is no longer practiced in the closet, but is now practiced on many street corners, in restaurants, in schools and in the sight of our children. Gay marriage is being legalized in certain states within the USA.

That which was once unheard of is now being heard loud and clear. That which was once a reproach is now an alternative lifestyle. That which the Bible clearly condemns is being accepted as normal and acceptable in today’s society. While Scripture cries out ’abomination’, the ACLU and its followers cry out ’we want more rights’.

Alcoholism, drug abuse, teen pregnancy, school violence, homosexuality, abortion, child abuse, pornography, rape, robbery and murder pervade our nation.

What’s wrong with this picture? What is happening to America? What would our Founding Fathers do today if they were alive and able to see the degradation sweeping across this country?

George Washington once said, "It is impossible to rightly govern the world without God and the Bible."

Noah Webster stated, "No truth is more evident to any mind than that the Christian religion must be the basis of any government intended to secure the rights and privileges of a free people."

James Madison declared, "We’ve staked the whole future of American civilization not on the power of government, far from it. We have staked the future…...upon the capacity of each and all of us to govern ourselves, to control ourselves, to sustain ourselves according to the Ten Commandments of God. The future and success of America is not in this Constitution, but in the laws of God upon which this Constitution is founded."

Thomas Jefferson said, "And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are a gift of God….that they are not to be violated but with His wrath? Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just; that His justice cannot sleep forever."

America is rejecting God thereby placing herself in a position for God’s judgment.

I hear the Lord saying, "Repent and cry out to Me for justice and mercy." If there’s ever been a time when America needs to get right with God, it’s now. God has given us every opportunity to repent and get our lives adjusted so that judgment would not come to this nation.

I hear a cry in my spirit man. It’s a cry that I’ve heard several times before as I’ve sought the Lord for His guidance and direction. The Lord is speaking to His people once again, but this time with a more intense sound in His voice saying, "Wake up America. Wake up church."

The clock is moving forward and time is running out for many who think they are okay in their own eyes. These people are deceived and will be judged because they have rejected God and all that He stands for.

I’m asking the body of Christ to respond to the cry of the Spirit of God that I am hearing in my spirit today. "Wake up America. Wake up church."

We’ve been so consumed with our own problems and our own selfish desires that we have neglected to reach out to those who are searching for answers.

We’ve neglected to meet the needs of people who have come into our churches looking for God. We’ve given them a program instead of Jesus. We’ve given them entertainment instead of teaching them how to pray, worship and understand God’s Word. They have walked out of our churches without THE ANSWER and have turned to cults and other religions for guidance. Many of them have called psychic hotlines out of desperation to know what life is all about. Others have turned to the occult, WICC and witchcraft.

I believe it’s time for us to repent, fall on our faces with a spirit of humility and cry out for God’s mercy and grace in our lives and in our nation. I really believe the judgment of God is going to be released on America if she doesn’t change her ways.
