Plan for: Thanksgiving | Advent | Christmas
Serve God in our current circumstances, continually seek His will, and respond quickly to His word.
Good morning, church family! Today, we're going to be diving into an inspiring passage from 1 Samuel 22:1-5. This text will guide us to understand three important truths: Serve God where you are, Continue to seek God's will, and Be quick to respond to God's word.
Before we get into the heart of today's sermon, I'd like to share a quote from A.W. Tozer, a respected Christian author and pastor. He once said, "God is looking for people through whom He can do the impossible. What a pity that we plan only the things we can do by ourselves." Isn't that so true, church? God is not limited by our circumstances, and He's inviting us to be part of His grand story. So let's not limit ourselves to what we can do on our own, but let's seek God's will and respond quickly to His word.
Now, let's read our scripture for today, 1 Samuel 22:1-5. "David left Gath and escaped to the cave of Adullam. When his brothers and his father’s household heard about it, they went down to him there. All those who were in distress or in debt or discontented gathered around him, and he became their commander. About four hundred men were with him. David went from there to Mizpah of Moab. He said to the king of Moab, 'Would you let my father and mother come and stay with you until I learn what God will do for me?' So David left them with the king of Moab, and they stayed with him as long as David was in the stronghold. But the prophet Gad said to David, 'Do not stay in the stronghold. Go into the land of Judah.' So David left and went to the forest of Hereth."
