John 16:33 - Victory in Jesus

 Palm Sunday – the disciples thought it was the victory, the victory was yet to come

 The real victory began at the Cross, and was finalized at His resurrection

 Take part in His victory

#1 Jesus shared his plans - These things I have spoken to you,

A] ‘I’m going away’ – ‘to the Father’ John 16:16, 28

B] ‘I’m coming back’ -John 14:1-3

C] ‘a little while’ – be prepared!

1) A week is a little while

2) 2000+ years is a little while

#2 Only In Jesus!

John 16:33 … that in Me you may have peace...

A] In a Relationship - John 17:3

B] Peace in Christ Alone – Romans 5:1-3

1) Unique peace - John 14:27

2) He is “Lord of peace”, “God of peace”

3) God’s plan from beginning -Luke 2:14 “ peace on Earth”

4) Carried out - Coloss 1:19 -20

C] Peace because He cares for us, knew He was going away, promised to return - Phil 4:6-7

1) We should be content in every situation

2) We should be ready for any event

3) We have hope beyond hope

D] We should be “Good Cheer”

1) Joy in all things

2) Thankfulness for all things

#3 Another Promise of God

John 16:33 … In the world you will have tribulation;

Tribulation – fired for your faith

tempt. – desire to encourage boss trial – a man was laying at pool

A] Trials – (faith tests) - 1 Pet 1:6-7

B] Temptations – (obedience tests)- 1 Cor 10:13

C] Tribulations - (attacks)

(a) Guaranteed - Acts 14:22, 2 Timothy 3:12

(b) Because the World hates us - John 15:18-19

(c) For a reason - 2 Cor 1:3-4

 So we can comfort others as He comforts us

#4 Victory!

John 16:33…but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

1) Triumphal Entry & re-entry Jn 12:12-15, Mt. 16:27

(a) The re-entry will be cheered more heartily by His own

2) Joining the victory Rom 8:37-39

(a) He wants to draw us all to Himself -John 12:32

(b) In Christ, we have victory 1 John 4:4, 1 John 5:4-5
