If God can unveil our spiritual sight to perceive the beginning and the end of our circumstances, we will know the appropriate steps to take. This understanding will strengthen our faith in Him and reduce our worries.

Introduction

As Christians, we have been given physical eyes to see in the natural realm. However, there is another type of eye that is essential for us to possess - spiritual eyes. These spiritual eyes enable us to see beyond the physical and into the spiritual realm. In Ephesians 1:18, the Apostle Paul prays for the believers' eyes of understanding to be enlightened so that they may know the hope of God's calling and the riches of His inheritance in the saints.

Understanding Spiritual Eyes

Spiritual eyes are the eyes that perceive spiritual realities. While our natural eyes can only see what is visible in the physical world, there is more to life than what meets the eye. Many believers struggle with spiritual blindness, which hinders their ability to see spiritual things. This blindness leaves them unable to find solutions or discern God's purpose in their circumstances.

The Power of Opened Spiritual Eyes

When God opens our spiritual eyes, we gain insight into the beginning and end of our situations. This divine perspective allows us to make informed decisions and trust in God's guidance. In 2 Kings 6:17, Elisha prayed for his servant's eyes to be opened, and he was then able to see the angelic protection surrounding them. This experience increased the servant's faith and reliance on God.

Examples of Spiritual Blindness

In Numbers 22:1-39, we read about Balaam, a renowned prophet who was invited by Balak to curse the people of Israel. Despite God's warning, Balaam was spiritually blind and unable to perceive the angel sent to prevent him from cursing God's chosen people. This story reminds us that even as believers, we can still experience spiritual blindness.

The Need for Opened Spiritual Eyes

1. Direction: Opened spiritual eyes provide guidance in making decisions regarding career, marriage, jobs, churches, and friendships.

2. Targeted Prayer: With spiritual eyes opened, we can pray specifically and effectively for various situations (Romans 8:26-27).

3. Recognizing Opportunities: Spiritual eyes enable us to see the opportunities that surround us, which we might otherwise miss (Genesis 21:15-19).

4. Discerning the Enemy's Tactics: Opened spiritual eyes reveal the enemy's strategies, allowing us to pray against them.

5. Witnessing God's Miracles: Opened spiritual eyes enable us to witness and appreciate the wonder-working power of God.

6. Building Hope in God: Just as Elisha's servant's hope and confidence in God were restored when his eyes were opened, our spiritual eyes can strengthen our trust in God.

Consequences of Spiritual Blindness

1. Wasted Effort and Stagnancy: Spiritual blindness can lead to futile efforts and a lack of progress.

2. Missed Opportunities and Failure: Without spiritual sight, we may overlook opportunities and experience failure.

3. Praying Amiss: Spiritual blindness hinders our ability to pray effectively, resulting in prayers that miss the mark.

4. Wrong Direction: Without spiritual eyes, we may unknowingly move in the wrong direction.

5. Lost Hope: Spiritual blindness can cause us to lose hope in God's promises and provision.

6. Making Wrong Decisions: Lack of spiritual sight can lead to poor decision-making.

Causes of Spiritual Blindness

• God's Sovereignty: God has the power to open or close our spiritual eyes according to His will (2 Kings 6:18-20).

• Sin: Sin can blind our spiritual eyes, just as it did for Balaam.

What We Need to Do

• Pray for Opened Spiritual Eyes: We should ask God to open our spiritual eyes so that we may understand His purpose and experience the riches of His glory (Psalm 119:18, Ephesians 1:18).

• Avoid Sin: To maintain clear spiritual vision, we must live in obedience to God's commands.

• Meditate on God's Word: Regularly immersing ourselves in Scripture helps to sharpen our spiritual eyesight (Hosea 4:6).

Conclusion

The opening of our spiritual eyes is a vital aspect of our Christian journey. It allows us to see beyond the physical and gain insight into the spiritual realm. With opened spiritual eyes, we can navigate life with divine guidance, pray effectively, recognize opportunities, discern the enemy's tactics, witness God's miracles, and build our hope in Him. Let us seek God's intervention to open our spiritual eyes and experience the fullness of His purpose for our lives.
