Plan for: Thanksgiving | Advent | Christmas
When Christ is the cornerstone of your life, no circumstance, individual, or power can topple you. In Christ, we find an unshakeable and enduring foundation.
Introduction:
In the book of Matthew 7:24-27, we learn that a building cannot stand without a strong foundation. Just as a building needs a solid base to support its weight, our lives also require a firm foundation. In this sermon, we will explore the importance of making Jesus Christ our foundation and the benefits that come with it.
We Are Spiritual Buildings:
According to 1 Peter 2:5, our lives are likened to spiritual houses being built. Just as there are different types of foundations for buildings, we also have various options for building our lives, marriages, families, businesses, and ministries. However, it is crucial to choose the right foundation.
The Dangers of Faulty Foundations:
Building a marriage solely on physical appearance or a ministry solely on miracles can lead to problems. Looks fade, and miracles alone cannot sustain faith. We need something deeper and stronger to withstand the challenges and pressures of life.
The Solid Foundation in Christ:
Jesus Christ is the only foundation that possesses the characteristics of being unshakable, immovable, and unshifting. He is described in Isaiah 28:16 as a tested and sure foundation. Jesus is the cornerstone upon which we should build our lives.
Benefits of Making Jesus Our Foundation:
1. Withstanding Life's Storms: When Jesus is our foundation, we can confidently face any storm or challenge. Just as Paul remained steadfast during a raging storm at sea, we can trust that Jesus will never leave us or forsake us. We will come out victorious.
2. Overcoming Satanic Opposition: The gates of hell cannot prevail against those who have Jesus as their foundation. Satan may try to deceive and oppose us, but when we know the truth found in Jesus, we can resist his lies and schemes. God will frustrate our enemies and protect us.
3. Laboring with Purpose: When Jesus is our foundation, our efforts will not be in vain. We will experience divine restoration and blessings. Our work for God will be recognized and rewarded. We will eat the fruit of our labor and enjoy the benefits of serving Him faithfully.
Conclusion:
In Romans 8:37-39, Paul assures us that nothing can separate us from the love of Christ. When Jesus is our foundation, no situation, person, force, or power can bring us down. Let us pray for God's grace to build our lives, families, and ministries on the unshakable foundation of Christ. May we experience His protection, blessings, and divine restoration in all areas of our lives.
