UNSHAKABLE IN THE SHAKING

By Rev. Samuel Arimoro

Main Text: Hebrews 12:26-29

Supporting Texts: Psalm 46:1-3, Matthew 7:24-27, Haggai 2:6-7, 1 Corinthians 15:58

INTRODUCTION:

We live in a time of great shaking—politically, economically, spiritually, and even morally. Everything that can be shaken is being shaken. But in the midst of this turbulence, there is a promise from God: His kingdom cannot be shaken.

The world may be trembling with fear, but those who belong to God must stand firm. Our confidence is not in systems or circumstances, but in the unchanging nature of our God. As believers, we are part of a kingdom that is immovable and eternal.

This sermon is a call to remain steadfast and anchored in Christ. No matter what storm rages around us, we must be grounded in faith, rooted in truth, and powered by grace. When the shaking comes, only the unshakable will remain.

1.  GOD PERMITS SHAKING TO TEST OUR FOUNDATION

When the storms of life blow, they reveal whether we are built on the Rock or on sinking sand.

a) False Confidence Will Collapse

Anything not built on Christ will not survive the shaking (Matthew 7:26-27).

b) True Faith Is Proven Under Pressure

Trials expose the genuineness of our faith (1 Peter 1:6-7).

c) Spiritual Foundations Must Be Secure

Only those rooted in Christ can withstand the storms (Colossians 2:6-7).

d) God Uses Shaking to Refocus Our Priorities

It strips away distractions and brings us back to what matters most (Haggai 2:6-7).

Biblical Example – The Wise and Foolish Builders (Matthew 7:24-27)

2.    BEING UNSHAKABLE REQUIRES KINGDOM MINDEDNESS

We cannot stand strong if we are living like the world. Our minds must be renewed to the culture of the kingdom.

a) Renew Your Mind Daily

Do not conform to the patterns of this world (Romans 12:2).

b) Set Your Affections on Eternal Things

Focus on what will last forever (Colossians 3:1-2).

c) Walk by Faith, Not by Sight

Don't be moved by visible circumstances (2 Corinthians 5:7).

d) Live for the Audience of One

Let God be the only one whose approval you seek (Galatians 1:10).

Biblical Example – Daniel in Babylon (Daniel 6:10)

3.   GOD IS OUR REFUGE IN THE MIDST OF SHAKING

In uncertain times, our safety is not in human systems but in the shelter of the Most High.

a) God Is Our Present Help in Trouble

We are not abandoned in the storm (Psalm 46:1).

b) He Will Never Be Moved

Trusting God secures stability (Isaiah 26:3-4).

c) He Hides Us in the Day of Trouble

He provides supernatural cover (Psalm 27:5).

d) His Word Is Our Anchor

The promises of God give us unshakable hope (Hebrews 6:18-19).

Biblical Example – Paul in the Shipwreck (Acts 27:22-25)

4.   WE MUST REMAIN STEADFAST AND UNMOVEABLE

God expects His people to hold their ground and continue in good works no matter the shaking.

a) Be Steadfast in Service

Keep doing what God has called you to do (1 Corinthians 15:58).

b) Do Not Be Moved by What You See

Let the Word of God be your final authority (2 Corinthians 4:17-18).

c) Encourage Yourself in the Lord

When all else fails, draw strength from God (1 Samuel 30:6).

d) Strengthen Others in the Faith

Help others stand strong in times of shaking (Luke 22:32).

Biblical Example – The Early Church during Persecution (Acts 4:29-31)

CONCLUSION:

Beloved, the shaking is not the end—it is a sign. God is allowing what can be shaken to fall away so that what is eternal will remain. This is our opportunity to prove the strength of our faith and show the world the unshakable nature of the Kingdom of God.

Let your life be anchored in Christ. Stand firm in truth, remain filled with the Spirit, and don't be afraid. You belong to a kingdom that cannot be moved. When everything else falls, you will still be standing—because you are unshakable in the shaking.

PRAYER POINTS:

1. Father, anchor my life in You so I will not be shaken.

2. Lord, help me to build my life on Your Word and not on worldly things.

3. I reject the spirit of fear and receive boldness in the face of trials.

4. Father, preserve my family and loved ones in this season of shaking.

5. Lord, use this season to refine me and draw me closer to You.
