Youth Sermon: Unpacking Crazy Happy

Introduction

Have you ever thought about what makes you truly happy? Is it getting the latest iPhone, acing your exams, or hanging out with friends? Well, God has a different idea about happiness, and it's kinda crazy. Let's dive into the Beatitudes and see what Jesus says about being crazy happy.

Imagine you're thirsty, like really thirsty. You've been playing basketball in the sun, and you're parched. You see a soda and a bottle of water. The soda looks tempting, but you know the water will quench your thirst. That's like choosing between what the world offers and what God offers. The world's happiness is like that soda, it's sweet but temporary. God's happiness is like the water, it truly satisfies.

God's happiness is like the water, it truly satisfies.

The Beatitudes

Jesus says, 'Happy are those who are humble, they'll get heaven.' Being humble isn't about being a pushover, it's about knowing we need God. It's like admitting you need help in a tough level of a video game. When we admit we need God, we get to be part of His team.

Jesus says, 'Happy are those who mourn, they'll be comforted.' Sounds weird, right? But think about it. When you're sad, you're real. You're not pretending everything's okay. And the best part? God promises to comfort us when we're sad.

Jesus says, 'Happy are the meek, they'll inherit the earth.' Meekness isn't about being weak, it's about being strong but not showing off. It's like a superhero who doesn't need to show off his powers. Jesus was like that, strong but gentle.

Jesus says, 'Happy are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, they'll be filled.' We all want different things, but what we really need is God's righteousness. It's like that water after a basketball game. Only God can truly satisfy us.

Conclusion

So, what's the takeaway? Be real. Be humble, it's okay to be sad, be strong but gentle, and seek God above all. That's the path to true, crazy happiness. This week, try to apply one of these points in your life. See how it changes your perspective.

Prayer

God, help us to find your crazy happiness in our lives. Help us to be humble, to be real when we're sad, to be meek, and to seek you above all. Amen.
