Plan for: Thanksgiving | Advent | Christmas
A gate serves as a crucial element in any structure, providing security and protection. In the Bible, the gate holds significant power, serving as a venue for business, military planning, and judgment. This sermon explores these aspects and their implications for our lives.
Genesis 28:12 says, "He had a dream in which he saw a stairway resting on the earth, with its top reaching to heaven, and the angels of God were ascending and descending on it." In this verse, Jacob saw a ladder connecting heaven and earth, with angels going up and down. Verse 13 says, "There above it stood the Lord, and he said: 'I am the Lord, the God of your father Abraham and the God of Isaac. I will give you and your descendants the land on which you are lying.'"
Before we continue, let us pray: "Lord, I pray that any land that rightfully belongs to me but is currently under the control of the enemy, I reclaim it by the power of fire, in Jesus' name."
In verses 16-17, Jacob woke up from his sleep and said, "Surely the Lord is in this place, and I was not aware of it." He was afraid and said, "How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God; this is the gate of heaven."
Matthew 16:18-19 says, "And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it."
What is a gate? A gate is an important part of a building or house. It provides security and protection. In biblical times, the gate held great significance. Business transactions took place at the gate, military strategies were planned there, and judgments were delivered. Proverbs 31:23 says, "Her husband is respected at the city gate." Gates were crucial for a city's safety. If the enemy breached the gate, the city would be conquered.
There are physical gates and spiritual gates. Some gates are visible, while others are invisible.
A gate is an opening in a wall or fence, serving as an entrance or exit. It controls passage and is a point of arrival or departure. Gates can be doors or mechanisms for controlling access. Just as physical gates and spiritual gates have their own importance, there are gates that open up a person's life.
These truths may not always be clear to us, but the enemy understands them well. Everyone has what we call human gates, through which the enemy can enter or exit. If the enemy has already gained entrance into your life, but you are only fighting external enemies, you are setting yourself up for defeat. Many people fight external enemies while the internal enemy has already infiltrated. Before dealing with external enemies, we must first address the internal ones. There are nine major gates that open up a person's life.
The head gate: The head is the symbol of your destiny. Negative or positive influences can flow through your head to the rest of your body. Be cautious about who lays hands on your head or what you put on it. Deliverance of the head is crucial.
The gate of the eyes: Your eyes are like a camera lens, capturing images that transfer to your spirit. Be careful what you behold, as lust and negative influences can enter through your eyes.
The ear gate: Hearing plays a significant role in our spiritual lives. Faith comes by hearing, but doubt can also enter through our ears. Blockages in our spiritual ears can hinder communication with God.
The mouth gate: Your mouth has the power to bring life or death. Be mindful of the words you speak and the food you consume.
The gate of the hand: Your hands represent your labor. The enemy can attack the works of your hands, so be vigilant.
The heart gate: The heart is the control room of power, storing both good and bad things. Evil thoughts and imaginations can originate from the heart.
The navel gate: This gate connects you to your mother's womb. Evil blood, spirits, and inheritance can pass through this gate. Inherited problems can affect your life.
The sex gate: Sexual immorality opens a door for the enemy to attack your destiny. Guard your sexuality and avoid engaging in sexual activities outside of marriage.
The gate of the legs: Your legs represent your journey. Be cautious where your legs take you, as they can lead you into trouble or blessings.
To address the problems of these gates and receive deliverance from the enemy's influence, surrender your life to Jesus and repent of any known sins. Remove any foreign influences that have gained access to your life and set a watch over your gates to prevent further infiltration.
Let us pray: "Lord Jesus, I surrender my life to you. Forgive me for my sins and wash me with your precious blood. Take control of my life. I command every power of darkness that has gained access to my life to leave now, in Jesus' name. I break every evil connection and remove every foreign influence from my life. I set a watch over my gates and declare that no affliction shall rise again. Thank you, Lord Jesus, for your deliverance, in Jesus' name. Amen."
May God grant you victory over the gates of your life and bring deliverance from the enemy's influence.
