Summary: This sermon addresses the needs of the everyday Christian to be unified within The Body Of Christ.

“I Therefore, the prisoner of The Lord, beseech you that ye may walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye have been called.

With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love.” Ephesians 4:1-2

When you hear these words spoken by Paul The Apostle in his letter to the church of Ephesus, you may ask yourself: “Do I hold true to these words?” When you look at the things that are plaguing the church today and the negative situations that seem to tear at the very fiber of the faith, it makes you really wonder inside. As Paul says in Eph. 4:3 “Endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.” Do we really practice this very thing? The answer to that question is a resounding NO.

We have a focus that is not in this practice and even though it is in our nature to have flaws, y is it so to the point that we can’t focus on keeping this unity in the spirit as it says. One glaring reason is Jealousy of each other, and other factors such as envy, hatred and many more. But let us not waste precious time trying to count the ways that cause us to be like this at times, but let us focus on God’s word to solve this dilemma. Eph. 4:7 says “But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.” Take a moment and think about this passage. How is it that we simply forget that we are all blessed in accordance to God’s divine will? I’m sure we have all know this to be true, that we shall all have what GOD says we shall have by HIS will. Can we not understand that just because someone else has more in abundance then we, that we should not be holding any grudge against that person or persons that we should be uplifting the work that GOD has created through them and to share in HIS Glory.

So does that put us in line to behave as an uncouth savage? Should we be against Christ, we it was HE Himself that taught us to be better towards each other. I think not, look at verse 8: “Wherefore he saith, When He ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.” He gave gifts unto MAN! If you don’t understand the meaning of this, then pray for the understanding. For isn’t it better to know what GOD says will save you from your own demise.

In verses 11-12 Paul wrote about these gifts that had been giving to those that followed Christ. “And He gave some, apostles, and some prophets, and some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of ministry, for the edifying of The Body Of Christ.” Even though some may have more than others, it is through those gifts given, that we are to edify the Body Of Christ, so why should it be of any importance that we The Church should not make it a daily practice to uplift the entire Body of Christ, to be in the Unity of The Spirit as he had commanded in the first place. Did He not send The Helper to us as evidence of His promise to us? We ought to be thanking GOD for the blessing HE sent to us, instead of debating and acting foolish.

Let’s look at Verse 13-14, there is no denying the truth of God’s word. We the church are being like children tossed to and fro. We ought to be looking toward the Kingdom instead of acting out against each other. Verse 15 “But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head even Christ.” Grow Up, do we know what this really means? We may act as such, be we really need to examine ourselves alil more closely and put this childish behavior aside. “From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.” Eph. 4:16.

You know as we grow with each other in our walk of faith, we do need to start to turn ourselves around and I mean physically, spiritually, mentally, emotionally turn ourselves around. Join me in turning yourself around, that’s correct look at where you stand now and just turn yourself around. Look at those around you and how you’re not in tune with them spiritually. Now after turning yourself around speak over yourself, ask GOD to keep you in tune through the Holy Spirit, ask HIM to keep your mind focused on having unity with in the spirit, to help uplift the Body Of Christ, to be more helpful than harmful. To help keep the edification of The Body intact. Now let us pray shall we. If you’re in need of being refocused on the unity you once had, or being back in tune with the Holy Spirit, just invite him on in will you. Let us pray.
