SCRIPTURE: PSALMS 133 KJV
133 Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!2 It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron's beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments;3 As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.
INTRODUCTION:
King David wrote a very important lesson of what unity means to the kingdom of God in these verse of Psalms 133. Our God of the Heavens is a God of unity. The God head exist as a triune being; Father, Son and the Holy Ghost. The Father never operates without the Son and the Holy Ghost. There is constant communication and agreement between the diversity of the God head.
Unity is important in our daily lives, marriages, families and the body of Christ. Hence, unity unites, empowers and fosters peace and favor. Unity ushers in the anointing. The kingdom of darkness is opposed to unity.
God desires unity in His body and our lives and relationships since He is a God of unity. Heaven is a place of unity not chaos.
There is power in unity. It fosters love, strengthens prayer, minimizes differences, it releases the supernatural power of God and it ministers to the lost.
1. THE PURSUANT OF UNITY
Vs 1 Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!
Not always we feel a sense of unity within a household or job or marriage with our family, co-workers or significant other. But there is a joy, a perfume, a beauty that emanates from the spirit, soul and mind of an individual when unity is achieved.
The church is called to be a unified body in Christ. Matthew18:19-20 “Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. 20 for where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”
The Unisom of the people that serve the Lord has power to join with each other and agree. Agreement is unity. We must strive towards agreement even if we cannot perceive the end result but by faith do so.
Our personal trait as a member of the body of Christ is to purse the joy of being unified with others that not only serve in the body of Christ but understands the power that it brings. A people that are joined together, with one purpose and cause of the cross will overturn systems of this world into the hands and Kingdom of our Christ.
Revelation 11:15 KJV And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign forever and ever.
2. THE PRIESTHOOD OF UNITY
Psalms 133 vs. 2 It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron's beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments;
-The priesthood must be unified with God and the people.
-The presence of God will transfer to the people
-The power of God through the Priest would transfer to the people
-The Anointing will run down upon the people
-There is no disjoining between the head of hair and the beard of the priest. There is a smooth flow of God’s authority in and on the man of God to the people.
-The joining of the people to the Man of God will build the kingdom of God.
-There will be a bonding with God to the man and the man to the people
-The bond will break all bonds of the enemy working in the people’s lives. The anointing breaks the yokes.
Isaiah 10:27 KJV And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.
3. THE PLACE OF UNITY
Psalms 133 vs. 3 As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.
-Dew is the moisture that forms at night when objects or the ground outside cool down by radiating, or emitting, their heat.
-The heat and harsh journey of life has a good measure of coolness and moisture to be saturated with from the Lord. However the word of God declares that there is a particular place that receives this type of moisture.
-The mountain top of Hermon and Zion are the cascading overview that lines the Holy Land of Israel. These mountain tops are watered generously with dew as the mountain pulls from the heavens and the heavens respond to the wanting of the mountains.
