Understanding Your God Given Authority

"Assuredly, I say to you, swhatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.

19 t"Again 1I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, uit will be done for them by My Father in heaven. 20 For where two or three are gathered vtogether in My name, I am there in the midst of them."

To Peter Jesus said in *Matt.16:19

And I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven. Whatever you lock on earth will be locked in heaven, and whatever you open on earth will be opened in heaven."

Jesus has given all of us authority to lock and unlock doors in our lives.

He says; "Whatever you lock on earth will be locked in heaven, and whatever you open on earth will be opened in heaven."

An example of authority;

I remember a while back Carmen and I decided to go to Danny’s with a few families from the church after an evening service. We were all having a great time of fellowship when we noticed a gentleman that was going from table to table making small talk with the persons that were sitting there. But when he approached a certain table, an argument started. Before we knew two young men started beating on this poor guy. Apparantlly they were anoyed at him and took it upon themselves to teach him a lesson.

Since I was the guy with the biggest mouth in the place, as usual. The first thing I thought of doing was yell at them to catch their attention and at that same moment they stopped beating on him. Another guy that was with us proceeded to get in-bettween them and the poor guy that was being beat. An argument broke out and they wanted to beat him up also. That’s when Carmen stood up, as the other gentleman still dazed started walking towards them making remarks and at that time I remember thinking; Great! Now we are all going to get beat up!.

Carmen had it all under control though. She got in front of that guy and stuck her long finger in his face telling him, You need Jesus!. It was at that time that everything stoped and you could hear a pin falling on the floor.

She said it with such authority, that everyone including the other guys agreed.

Authority(Websters dictionary); power to influence or command thought, opinion, or behavior

Three things happen when we come to Jesus.

1.All our sins are removed instantlly and we are made the righteousness of God.

2. The Holy Spirit indwells the life of the believer.

3. We are given power and authority, enabling us to live a life as a child of God.

Keys represent authority.

I can go in and out of this church because I have authority. And I have the keys to prove it.

A door is a barrier only if you don’t have the keys to get thru it.

We possess the keys of the kingdom, WE HAVE AUTHORITY to remove the obstacles that hinder our progres.

And also the authority to open new opportunities for advancement.

If I have authority from God nothing can deter me or stop me from accomplishing whatever I set my mind on.

Jesus is the best illustration;

Matthew 28:18, And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

Mathew 8:9, The centurian soldier understood that Jesus had authority.

Mark 1:22, And they were astonished at his doctrine: for he taught them as one that had authority, and not as the scribes.

He had;

- Authority to command the wind and waves

- Authority to heal the crippled

- Authority to open blinded eyes

- Authority to resurrect the dead.

-authority to cast out devils

- and this authority is made available to us

Jesus gave authority to the disciples;

Matthew 10:1 And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.

-You can have all the money in a bank but if you don’t write a check and use it, it doesnt mean anything.

-Keys are of no use if you don’t use them or if you are careles with them and loose them.

What keys do we pocess?

1. We have the keys to do the things that Jesus did. He said that greater things were going to be done by us.

2. We have the keys of salvation.

Paul said; "I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ for it is the power of God unto salvation".
