Summary: As a soldier could not afford to have his loins ungirded neither can we afford to have the loins of our spiritual lives untied or hanging loose.

Eph 6:10-18
Eph 6:14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
The Loins is very often descriptive of the entire disposition of the person
Girded loins speaks of a disposition of (readiness) (strength) (stability) (efficiency)
Readiness: Ex 12:11 And thus shall ye eat it; with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and ye shall eat it in haste: it is the LORD’S Passover.
Luke 12:35 Let your loins be girded about, and your lights burning;
Strength: 1 Ki 18:46 And the hand of the LORD was on Elijah; and he girded up his loins, and ran before Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.
Pro 31:17 She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms.
Stability – Efficiency: Isa 5:27 None shall be weary nor stumble among them; none shall slumber nor sleep; neither shall the girdle of their loins be loosed, nor the latchet of their shoes be broken:
*Girded loins speaks of ministry:
2 Ki 4:29 Then he said to Gehazi, Gird up thy loins, and take my staff in thine hand, and go thy way: if thou meet any man, salute him not; and if any salute thee, answer him not again: and lay my staff upon the face of the child.
The girdle:
It’s kind of like a corset for men It goes underneath the armor, it’s the foundation it tightens everything up, provides support for the man so that he can wear the armor with confidence.
If his girdle is loose nothing is going to be right It might look alright to a bystander
But in the battle that slack may very well cost him his life, and the life of those with him
There is a law of scripture interpretation called the (law of genesis or the law of first mention) What that means is: (However a word is used in its first mention, is what that word is going to represent overall).
The first mention of the Loins is:
Gen 35:11 And God said unto him, I am God Almighty: be fruitful and multiply; a nation and a company of nations shall be of thee, and (kings shall come out of thy loins).
This tells us that the Loins represents the place which life comes from
*In the spiritual arena where it applies to us today, It is speaking of the mind
1 Pe 1:13 Wherefore (gird up the loins of your mind), be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
The mind is where things are brought to life.
(As a man thinketh in his heart so is he).
What your mind conceives to be true Your heart will give birth to.
The heart and the mind are vitally connected:
Now that we know that Girding our loins speaks of Bringing our minds in order and having no slack or looseness or confusion in our thinking, We can understand girding our loins with truth.
* Our minds must be in tight order, secured and strengthened and stabilized by the truth of Gods word. Nothing but the word of God can establish divine order in our minds.
You are a sitting duck, a dead man walking:
If you do not get your mind renewed and established in truth
David Said:
Psa 119:92 Unless thy law had been my delights, I should then have perished in mine affliction.
Psa 119:95 The wicked have waited for me to destroy me: but I will consider thy testimonies.
Psa 119:50 This is my comfort in my affliction: for thy word hath quickened me.
Psa 119:93 I will never forget thy precepts: for with them thou hast quickened me.
Jesus Said that Satan is a liar and the father of lies
If you do not get your mind renewed and established = girded up in truth
You have no defense whatsoever against him.
You say What about the Holy Ghost? He is the Spirit of truth, but he can only quicken in you the truth that you have ingested through study of Gods word .
It is only the truth you know that can become the sword of the spirit with which you can defeat Satan
Mat Henry:
As the traveller, the racer, the warrior, and the labourer, gathered in their long and loose garments, that they might be ready in their business, so let Christians do by their minds and affections. Be sober, be watchful against all spiritual dangers and enemies, and be temperate in all behaviour. Be sober-minded in opinion, as well as in practice.
I implore you buy the truth, sell it not, Decide tonight that you are going to gird up your loins.
