a. v 9 A Constant Communion as Children Loved by God

This Communion with God Involves:

1) v 9 A Meaningful Relationship to God as Father

2) v 10 Understanding He is the Object of our Worship

3) v 10,13 God Giving us Purpose and Direction in Life

4 v 11 t is Our Source of Fulfillment and Comfort

5) v 16 Reveals Our Ultimate Goal in Life (to bear fruit and Glorify Him)

b. v 11 A Consistent Filling of Joy in our Communion with the Lord

c. v 16 A Continuous Peace in Flows From our Communion with Christ (He chose you)

2. v 9 JESUS COMMANDS US TO UNCEASING LOVE

a. v 9 We are to Abide in Love For Jesus

b. v 10 We are to Abound in Love For One Another

1) v 12 It is Sanctified Love (Because it is a commandment) - (‘As I have loved you’)

2) v 13 It is Sacrificial Love (Because it is Giving of One’s all for others)

Qualities of Christian Friendship (It is:

a) Attentive Pv 17:17 “A friend loves at all times, And a brother is born for adversity.”

b) Faithful Pv 18:24 “A man who has friends must himself be friendly, But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.”

c) Trustworthy PV 27:17 “As iron sharpens iron, So a man sharpens the countenance of his friend.”

c. v 16 We are Appointed to Glorify God in Your Life

1) v 16 Called to Bear Fruit (We are not called to live barren unproductive lives)

2) v 16 Our will Produce Blessed Fruit (our fruit should remain)
