Summary: The message of Easter is LIFE over death! On this Easter Sunday, we need to realize that Jesus came to bring us RESURRECTED life in two stages!

I. A SPIRITUAL Resurrection: Those who believe in Christ have ALREADY been raised!

"I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life, he has crossed over from death to life. a time is coming and has now come when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God and those who hear will live." (John 5:24-25)

A. The TIMING of this Resurrection: "has..." "he has..."a time is coming and has now come.¨

B. The CONDITIONS of this Resurrection: "whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me¡K the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God and those who hear will live."

C. The RESULTS of this Resurrection: "crossed over from death to life..." "...the dead will hear and those who hear will live.¨

i. Who are the "dead" who live? (Ephesians 2:1-4)

ii. What kind of "life¨ do these dead receive? (John 3:3; Galatians 2:20; Romans 6:4, 8:10-11; Ephesians 2:6; Colossians 2:12, 3:1; Philippians 3:10)

QUESTIONS: 1) Are you dead or alive? 2) Have you heard His voice already? 3) By what power are you living?

II. A PHYSICAL Resurrection: Those who believe in Christ have not YET been raised!

"Do not be amazed at this, for a time is coming when all who are in their graves will hear his voice and come out and those who have done good will rise to live, and those who have done evil will rise to be condemned." (John 5:28-29)

A. The TIMING of this Resurrection: "...in their graves."

B. The CONDITIONS of this Resurrection: "all who will hear his voice and come out...¨

C. The RESULTS of this Resurrection: "those who have done good will rise to live, and those who have done evil will rise to be condemned.¨

i. For the BELIEVER: "Those who have done good will rise to live¨ (not that we are saved because of our good works, but our good works are evidence of our salvation -- see Ephesians 2:8-10)

--> "because the the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.¨ (1 Corinthians 15:52).

--> It will be a physical transformation! (1 Corinthians 15:50-57)

ii. For the UNBELIEVER: "Those who have done evil will rise to be condemned." (Rev 20:11-15.)

QUESTIONS: 1) On that day, will you live or be condemned? 2) Do you have hope even as you face your grave? 3) Will you endeavor to tell as many as you can before it’s too late?
