Twelve Treasures Yet Realized (Col. 2:6-12)

"In Christ are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge." (Col. 2:6)

Song: Jesus is all the world to me. My life, my joy my all. He is my strength from day to day. Without Him I wouild fall. When I am sad to Him I go. No other one can cheer me so. When I am sad. He makes me glad. He’s my friend.

Jesus isa ll the world to me. My Friend in trials sore. I go to Him for blessings and He gives them o’er and o’er. He sends the sunshine and the rain. He sends the harvest’s golden grain. Sunshine and rain, harvest of grain. He’s my Friend.

So many people are looking for treasures in all the wrong places. Some are looking for it in the pursuit of wealth, riches or material possessions. Recently, we have seen an escalation of real estate prices as the country gets swept up in the mania of escalating housing prices. However, we all need to rmember that eventually Jesus warned all our human foundations will be shaken by the winds, waves and ravages of circumstances and only those who have built their house on the Rock will be able to stand the floods of adversity of life. (Matt 7:24-27)

Let’s look at twelve essential traits of the Treasures that are found in the Lord Jesus Christ. In Him we find the solution to our problems, the source of life, love and liberty; and the keys to finding satisfaction, hope and the capability to cope with the challenges of our every moment’s difficulties.

1. TRUTH - The Lord Jesus taught, "If you continue in my word then you will know (ginosko - experiential know in an intimate communion) the truth and the truth will set you free." (John 8:31,32) We can look to the Lord for our source of facts amidst all kinds of opinions about what are the answers to life’s perplexing problems. When so many are wondering about how to find their way in an ever increasingly complex world, Jesus still offers us the true way through the wilderness of life. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." (John 14:6) The Lord Jesus not only helps us find salvation, but directs our paths as we trust in Him with all our heart and not try to rely on our own insights. But in all our ways acknowledge Him as Lord and He will direct our paths. (Prov. 3:5,6)

2. TRIUMPH GIVER - The Lord Jesus said, "In the world you will have tribulation, but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world." (John 16:33) We can be of good cheer despite the hardships of life knowing that every joy and trial falls from above, traced upon our dial by the Son of love. We can trust Him fully. All for us to do. They who trust Him wholly. Find Him wholly true. Let us be stayed upon Jehovah so our hearts can be fully blessed. Finding as He promised, perfect peace and rest. (Isa 26:3) He will keep you in perfect peace, whose minds are stayed upon Him. Because we trust in Him.

3. TEMPTATION ESCAPER - The Lord Jesus overcame the temptations of the devil in the wilderness through the power of the word of God. Jesus said, "You shall love the Lord God and serve Him only when the devil tried to beseech Him to fall down and worship Him. When the devil tried to get Him to turn stones in to bread, Jesus said, "Man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God." When the devil said, "Throw yourself down from this temple, Jesus said, "You shall not tempt the Lord your God." The Bible assures us that no temptation that is taken us but such as is common to man. But God will provide a way of escape so that we can be able to bear up under it." (I Cor 10:13)

4. THE GOD WHO HEALS - "I am the Lord who heals you." (Exodus 15:26) We can praise the name of the Lord Jesus Christ as the One who heals the broken hearted and sets the captive free. He makes the lame to walk again and causes the blind to see. He is able to do exceedingly abundant beyond all that we ask or think according to the power that is given to us. (Eph. 3:20) Let us ask the Lord to heal us emotionally, physically, mentally, culturally, relationally and spiritually. The Lord Jesus has a way of making the wounded whole if we will call on Him for restoration, renewal and recovery.
