Summary: The Bible is full of warnings from God to his people to turn away from evil and do what is right. We hear but don't heed God's warnings and always face the consequences. Why are we so headstrong?

TEXT: Jeremiah 18:11-12

“Therefore, Jeremiah, go and warn all Judah and Jerusalem. Say to them, ‘This is what the lord says: I am planning disaster for you instead of good. So turn from your evil ways, each of you, and do what is right.’”

But the people replied, “Don’t waste your breath. We will continue to live as we want to, stubbornly following our own evil desires.”

GOD WARNS HIS CHILDREN

The warming God sent through Jeremiah to the children of Israel is still relevant today as it was then. God told them: "I am planning disaster for you instead of good. So turn from your evil ways, each of you, and do what is right.’” The response of the Israelites is reflective of the way people respond to the gospel today. They said: “Don’t waste your breath. We will continue to live as we want to, stubbornly following our own evil desires.” Why will children be so disobedient to their heaven father? No wonder God allowed them to be taken into captivity by their enemies. You will not use your own hands to derail the plan of God for your life in Jesus name.

GOD'S PLAN FOR YOU IS GOOD

"For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope." (Jer 29:11). Satan is aware of God's good plan for his children and looks for ways to truncate the good plan of God. He uses temptations of the flesh, pride and demonic influence to cause believers to fall into sin. He turns disobedience into a stronghold that is difficult to break from without God's intervention. This is the reason why people, by their actions and statements, challenge the sovereignty of God in their lives. You will not fall into the trap of sin in Jesus name. When temptations arise, the Lord will open your eyes to see the way of escape He has provided for you in Jesus name.

GOD'S ENDURING MERCY

"O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever" (Psa 118:29). God is ever merciful. Whereas Satan came to kill, steal and destroy; Jesus came to give abundant life to all who receive him as Lord and Saviour. The discipline of God serves to draw his children closer to him. The instant they plead for mercy and repent, God responds by forgiving and delivering them. That is why his children should turn from evil and do what is right. As you repent today, the Lord will forgive and deliver you from the hands of your enemies in Jesus name.

PRAYER:

Father, please have mercy upon me in Jesus name. Deliver me from the stronghold of Satan in the mighty name of Jesus.

DECREE:

Sin will not reign over me.

God bless you. Shalom.
