May the peace of the Lord be with you.
Topic: TRUTH FROM A DEMON IS DECEPTION
Acts 16:16-18 King James Version (KJV)
16 And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying:
17 The same followed Paul and us, and cried, saying, These men are the servants of the most high God, which shew unto us the way of salvation.
18 And this did she many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour.
Beloved, many people may praise you, many people may speak well of you and exalt you, even in the name of Jesus. But not all of these are acceptable or ones we should welcome.
Beloved, people can even praise you by saying things that link you to God Almighty and the service you render to Him, as if to say "we are happy or humbled by what you do for God Almighty or what He uses you for". All these could be fake and deception to either derail you and lead you into the ditch or to deceive you to destroy you.
Beloved this kind of praise in Ghana is termed "browning fans" which directly means "deceiving/misleading praise". Don't be deceived by browning fans. Most times browning fans would make you swollen headed for a while then your big head would be deflated at the wrong side in a crude manner within a short time. Browning fans don't last and they are full of deception.
The little girl was saying the truth about Paul and his team. Everything she said about them was true and humbling and those words actually glorify God too but the Holy Book says Paul got grieved and cast the demon out.
Beloved, Paul knew:
1. It was not the girl speaking but the demon that had possessed her.
2. It was not acknowledgement of God and His servants but a means to deceive them or keep them away from casting it out.
3. The demon was trying to pose as a spirit of light from God to deceive the Apostle and his team
But Paul was able to read inbetween the lines. Paul discerned that what the spirit was doing was evil and unacceptable thogh it spoke about God and His servants in a seemingly positive way.
Beloved, anything from a demon is evil, even what we may see or describe as positive is evil and unacceptable.
You have to be discerning, very discerning, the Spirit of Discernment must be your portion. This would make you notice any browning fans, no matter how it is disguised so you don't fall for it and be misled into destruction.
Beloved, *IT'S ALL ABOUT JESUS* and no one else. Let your praise come from Jesus alone and you will swerve any browning fans set up to mislead you.
Prayer: Father Please bless me with the Spirit of Discernment, that by the leading of your Holy Spirit, I will separate Browning fans from your praise and not be misled into destruction. In the mighty name of Jesus have I prayed. Amen.
