Introduction: It’s always a little scary when you do something for the first time. I remember my first airplane trip. I was 16 years old and headed to Old Mexico on a high school Spanish Club trip over Spring Break. As the big bird began to roar down the runway, my grip on the seat hurt my hands, but I didn’t get off the plane. As scared as I was then, I’ve traveled enough now that I seldom do more than locate the exits. I don’t read the emergency pamphlet nor do I pay attention to the safety presentation. I have begun to trust my experience in air flight.
I. Trust God with your Soul
a. that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. For the Scripture says, "WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED." (Romans 10:9-11 NASB)
b. indeed, we had the sentence of death within ourselves so that we would not trust in ourselves, but in God who raises the dead; who delivered us from so great a peril of death, and will deliver us, He on whom we have set our hope. And He will yet deliver us, (2 Corinthians 1:9-10 NASB)
II. Trust God with your family
a. And again, "I WILL PUT MY TRUST IN HIM." And again, "BEHOLD, I AND THE CHILDREN WHOM GOD HAS GIVEN ME." (Hebrews 2:13 NASB)
b. Abraham & Isaac, Jacob & Joseph, David & Bathsheba’s first son
III. Trust God with your money
a. For we have brought nothing into the world, so we cannot take anything out of it either. If we have food and covering, with these we shall be content. But those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a snare and many foolish and harmful desires which plunge men into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. (1 Timothy 6:7-10 NASB)
b. "Do not worry then, saying, 'What will we eat?' or 'What will we drink?' or 'What will we wear for clothing?' "For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. "But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. (Matthew 6:31-33 NASB)
c. How can you trust God with your soul, but not trust Him with your money?
Invitation:
Trust Him when dark doubts assail thee,
Trust Him when thy strength is small,
Trust Him when to simply trust Him
Seems the hardest thing of all.
Trust Him, He is ever faithful,
Trust Him, for his will is best,
Trust Him, for the heart of Jesus
Is the only place of rest.
