Summary: In todays world, we don't trust anything or anyone. So if I can't trust people who I see everyday... How can I trust a God I can't see?
Scripture:
Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the LORD with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
6 In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths. (NKJV)
Intro: Quote: “Trust but verify” - Ronald Reagan
We live in a” low trust world” and for good reasons:
• We can’t trust our government leaders-everyone has an agenda
• We can’t trust our Church leaders-sexual scandals
• We can’t trust our kids will not encounter predators at school
• We can’t trust our law enforcement
• We can’t even really trust our friends and family-use, abuse, hate, molestation, ect
Matthew 24:12 12 And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. (NKJV)
According to Goodtherepy.org - Trust is the act of placing confidence in someone or something else.
Body:
God is Good:
Nahum 1:7 The LORD is good, A stronghold in the day of trouble; And He knows those who trust in Him.
He cares for us:
1 Peter 5:7 casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.
If you can Trust the Lord:
(Mercy)
Psalms 32:10-11 Many sorrows shall be to the wicked;
But he who trusts in the LORD, mercy shall surround him.
11 Be glad in the LORD and rejoice, you righteous;
And shout for joy, all you upright in heart!
(Perfect Peace)
Isa 26:3-4
You will keep him in perfect peace,
Whose mind is stayed on You,
Because he trusts in You.
4 Trust in the LORD forever,
For in YAH, the LORD, is everlasting strength.
Romans 10:9-10 9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Conclusion:
1 John 1:9 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Psalms 34:8 Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good;
Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!
Romans 8:28 28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. 29 For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30 Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.
1 Peter 2:9 9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; 10 who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.
