Youth Sermon: Trust in Uncertainty

Introduction

Imagine you're blindfolded and trying to navigate through an obstacle course. You can't see where you're going, and you're unsure of what's ahead. But, you have a friend who can see everything and is guiding you through the course. You have to trust their voice and follow their instructions, even when it's scary or doesn't make sense. That's what it's like to trust God in uncertain times.

Today, we're going to talk about something we all face: uncertainty. Life can be confusing, and sometimes it's hard to know what to do or where to go. But the good news is that we have a God who loves us, guides us, and understands our pain.

That's what it's like to trust God in uncertain times.

Reading the Passage

[Read passage]

In Matthew 2:13-23, we read about some pretty intense stuff happening. There's a lot of drama, pain, and loss. But in the middle of all that, we see God guiding and communicating with His people. He's always there, even when life gets tough.

Learning from the Passage

So, what can we learn from this passage? First, God is always guiding and communicating with us. He spoke to people in the Bible through angels and dreams, and today He speaks to us through His Son, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. We might not always hear an audible voice, but God is always with us, guiding us through life.

Second, we see that people can cause a lot of pain and suffering. In this passage, it's King Herod who's causing all the drama. But Jesus teaches us that the evil one comes to kill, steal, and destroy. So when bad things happen, it's not because of God, but because of the evil in the world.

But here's the amazing thing: God understands our pain because He suffered too. Jesus was arrested, beaten, and crucified. He knows what it's like to hurt, and He's with us in our pain.

Applying the Passage

So, how can we apply this to our lives? We need to learn to trust God, even when life is uncertain. Just like in our object lesson, we need to listen to His voice and follow His guidance, even when it's scary or doesn't make sense.

And if you're going through a tough time right now, remember that one day, Jesus is going to heal it all. Revelation 21:4 says, "He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."

Closing Prayer

"Father, thank you for always being with us, guiding and communicating with us. Help us to trust you in uncertain times, knowing that you understand our pain and will one day heal it all. In Jesus' name, Amen."
