Plan for: Thanksgiving | Advent | Christmas
The main point of this sermon is to encourage us to trust in God's wisdom, strength, and guidance, especially during challenging times, as He is always with us and cares for us.
Hey everyone, I’m excited to share today’s sermon with you. It's about those three things we all need to navigate life's rough waters - Trust in God's Wisdom, Trust in God's Strength, and Trust in God's Guidance. From the Book of Proverbs (3:5) we read, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding." From 1 Peter 5:7, "Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you." From Psalm 34:17, "The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears them; He delivers them from all their troubles." And from 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, "Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus."
Trusting in God's wisdom is a fundamental aspect of our walk with Him. It is a conscious decision to believe that God's wisdom is superior to our own understanding and that His plans for us are always for our good, even when they don't align with our own desires or expectations. This trust is not a passive acceptance, but an active engagement with God, seeking His wisdom in every situation and decision we face.
The wisdom of God is not like human wisdom. It is not limited or flawed. It is perfect, all-encompassing, and timeless. It sees the end from the beginning and understands all the intricate details that we cannot see. When we trust in God's wisdom, we acknowledge that His perspective is infinitely greater than ours. We admit that our understanding is limited and that we need His divine insight to navigate through life.
The Bible is filled with examples of individuals who trusted in God's wisdom, even when it didn't make sense to them. Abraham, for instance, was asked to leave his homeland and go to a place he did not know. He trusted in God's wisdom and obeyed, and God blessed him abundantly. Joseph was sold into slavery by his brothers, yet he trusted in God's wisdom, and God used him to save many lives. These stories remind us that God's wisdom often works in ways we cannot comprehend, but it always leads to our ultimate good and His glory.
Trusting in God's wisdom also means surrendering our will to His. It means letting go of our plans and desires and allowing God to direct our paths. This surrender is not easy. It requires humility and a willingness to let go of control. But when we do, we find peace and assurance, knowing that God is in control and that His wisdom is guiding us.
However, trust in God's wisdom does not mean we will never face challenges or difficulties. On the contrary, God often uses these situations to refine us and to reveal His wisdom to us. In the midst of trials, we are called to lean on His understanding and not our own. We are to seek His wisdom, knowing that He will guide us through.
Trusting in God's wisdom also involves listening to His voice. God speaks to us in various ways - through His Word, through prayer, through other believers, and through circumstances. It is our responsibility to tune our hearts to His voice and to discern His wisdom in every situation. This requires a close relationship with Him, a heart that is open to His Word, and a spirit that is sensitive to His leading.
Finally, trusting in God's wisdom means waiting on His timing. God's wisdom includes His perfect timing. He knows when it is best for certain things to happen in our lives. Our role is to trust Him, wait patiently, and believe that He is working all things out for our good.
