Summary: We all faces many trials and tribulations in life. Joseph is a classic example of a man who triumphed through all his trials. His unwavering faith in God took him through all odds in life.
As Children of God, we are not immune to worries of the future and the troubles of life. We are not spared from the challenges that everyone else faces in life be it in health, careers, finances, relationships, and many other uncertainties that lie ahead. But as Christians, we have a heavenly Father who cares deeply about our future and desires to guide us through life's journey. We have a God who helps us to triumph over all our circumstances.
In 1 Peter 5:7, we are reminded to "cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you." This verse assures us that God is not only aware of our worries but also desires to carry them for us. When we cast our cares on Him, we are acknowledging that He is the sovereign Lord of our lives, and we trust Him to navigate our future.
The Bible is teaching us with examples of individuals who trusted God with their future, and He made their paths successful. One such example is Joseph, the son of Jacob.
The Story of Joseph: A Life of Trust and Triumph
Joseph's life was marked by twists and turns that could have led him to worry about his future. As a young man, he was hated and betrayed by his brothers and sold into slavery. Sibling jealousy and rivalry is the cause. (Genesis 37:23-28)
Despite this traumatic experience, Joseph chose to trust God and remain faithful.
In Egypt, Joseph rose to prominence in Potiphar's household. Genesis 39:1-5 – Joseph kept on trusting God despite his betrayal by his brothers, separation from his loving father and been sold as a slave into a nation he knew nothing about. His trust in the Lord was so evidential that Potiphar elevated Joseph status and made him the man in charge of his household because Pothipar realised that God blessed him because of Joseph (Vs. 5).
Trouble of life did not end there for Joseph. His honesty, integrity and having the fear of God only led him to be falsely accused and imprisoned (Genesis 39:6-10). Yet, even in the darkness of prison, Joseph continued to trust God, and the Lord was with him (Genesis 39:21-23).
Amazing things happens to those who put their trust solely in God even in the most difficult situations. When Joseph was sold into slavery – he became the man in charge of his slave master’s household. When Joseph was falsely accused and ditched into the prison – he was made the person in charge of the prisoners.
Romans 10:11; Isaiah 40:31; Jeremiah 17:7-8
Years later, when Pharaoh had a dream that no one could interpret, Joseph was summoned to the palace. Through God's enablement, Joseph accurately interpreted the dream and provided wise counsel (Genesis 41:15-32). As a result, Pharaoh appointed Joseph as the second-in-command of Egypt, and he became a blessing to the entire nation (Genesis 41:37-57).
Joseph's story demonstrates that when we trust God with our future, He can turn even the most challenging circumstances into opportunities for success and blessing. As Joseph himself declared, "You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives" (Genesis 50:20).
A Call to Trust - Proverbs 3:5-6: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."
A man who trust God will not battle with man! Because he knows the battle belongs to God.
Today, we may also face many challenges in life. Some can be very painful, hurtful and even embarrassing – it’s a call to TRUST.
If you are worried about the future, the future of your children in this sinful and challenging world – it’s a call to TRUST.
If you are battling some health issues that you don’t find any solution and the suffering seem to be increasing – it’s a call to TRUST.
God is calling us to trust Him so that we will triumph over every circumstance in life.
Joseph trusted – the Lord was with Him – Joseph triumphed over his challenges.
