A. Train up a child in the way he should go
"Train up a child in the way he should go [and in keeping with his individual gift or bent],"
Train up or "chanak" in the Hebrew language meaning: "to narrow, to initiate or discipline, dedicate"
Child or "naar" in the Hebrew language meaning: "a boy, from the age of infancy to adolescence, babe, lad, servant, young man"
Genesis 18:19 (Amplified Bible)
For I have known (chosen, acknowledged) him [as My own], so that he may teach and command his children and the sons of his house after him to keep the way of the Lord and to do what is just and righteous, so that the Lord may bring Abraham what He has promised him.
As we can see in the Ephesians 6:4, the father's role is to be by the side of his child or baby until adolescence and train up the baby and according to Genesis 18:19, it will be done by a command, series of commands, like you are writing a software program, expecting it to grow in your instructions and another difficult instruction is given to your child until he gets it.
Way or "derek" in the Hebrew language meaning: "a road, a course of life or mode of action, along, away, because of, custom, manner". And we know it all, that the Way is JESUS CHRIST. Train up our children in the WAY OF THE LORD - the LORD JESUS CHRIST Himself, to grow more knowledgeable every day in GOD'S WORDS.
Proverbs 10:29 (Amplified Bible)
The way of the Lord is strength and a stronghold to the upright, but it is destruction to the workers of iniquity.
John 14:6 (Amplified Bible)
Jesus said to him, I am the Way and the Truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father except by (through) Me.
Deuteronomy 4:9 (Amplified Bible)
Only take heed, and guard your life diligently, lest you forget the things which your eyes have seen and lest they depart from your [mind and] heart all the days of your life. Teach them to your children and your children’s children—
Deuteronomy 6:7 (Amplified Bible)
You shall whet and sharpen them so as to make them penetrate, and teach and impress them diligently upon the [minds and] hearts of your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down and when you rise up.
